"The important thing in democracy is to be re-elected. Look at Berlusconi. He has been re-elected three times," Mr Sarkozy said.

Career politicians with a heavy narcissism bent. You just gotta love it when they run their mouth and really show what is important to their ego.

/Hang em all Sarkozy. It won't matter if you get reelected. That's whats important.

The French get a free pass to act like assholes towards the US government.
Of course it's almost impossible to be bigger assholes than American politicians.

On 11 March 2003, Representatives Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio) and Walter B. Jones, Jr. (R-North Carolina) declared that all references to French fries and French toast on the menus of the restaurants and snack bars run by the House of Representatives would be removed. House cafeterias were ordered to rename French fries to "freedom fries". This action was carried out without a congressional vote, under the authority of Ney's position as Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, which oversees restaurant operations for the chamber. The simultaneous renaming of French toast to "freedom toast" attracted less attention.

"But he was elected two months ago and had never run a ministry. There are a certain number of things on which he has no position. And he is not always up to standard on decision-making and efficiency."

This is going to make Republican's heads explode.

Wow, Sarkozy's quite a self-important douchebag.

Didn't he make a quip last August to Putin about what an idiot Dubya was? I think it was during the Georgia fiasco; supposedly, it kept Putin from going apeshiat on Georgia, if you believe Sarkozy.

France is a moderate military power, and they have nukes. They also weren't being led by a long-running joke. It makes sense that Sarkozy had some real pull with Putin about Georgia.

I have always thought we should bolt the Statue of Liberty to the back of a 400 megaton nuke. Unfortunately, I don't believe in Jesus. So until January, when the secret Atheist took over, I could never admit this.

We've been having petty battles with France since 1790. We still owe them for Yorktown.

How about the other 433 US Representatives who went along with the idea of Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast? I don't recall a single representative publicly speaking out against this stupid action.

Perhaps we should let Germany annex France again. The best government they ever had was from 1940 to 1944.

"This jaundiced view of Mr Obama may have been prompted by the US President's heartfelt welcome at the G20, Nato and EU summits. "The President is annoyed by what he sees as the naivety and the herd mentality of the media, that Obama gets more attention than he does and is bad mouthing Obama in the desperate hope that someone will actually care what he thinks" wrote Claude Askolovitch, a commentator close to the Élysée Palace."

I'll tell you one thing, I'm getting really tired of these right-wing, Republican-controlled sources "reporting" made-up stuff about our experienced and fully qualified President Obama. Between Fox news, Rush Limbaugh, and The...uh....umm...The Times? The Times from England reporting this stuff? Ummm...uhhh....opps....dammm right-wingers are now invading The United Kingdom too....

What the fark do I care about France? I just want them to work their magic in Africa and quiet the natives on the East Coast.

Oh, you weren't aware that the French handle Africa better than anyone? Welcome to the party. Try using a larger viewing measurement. International necessity for unity supercedes this petty bullshiat. Go get outraged somewhere else, we're full up here.

"Mr Sarkozy was apparently irked by media reports that Mr Obama had saved the day in London by persuading President Hu of China to reach a compromise with France over tax havens. Mr Sarkozy's version is that he shamed Mr Obama into action, telling him: "You were elected to build a new world. Tax havens are the embodiment of the old world."

Butthurt Frenchie, move along folks, nothing to see here.

The London Times is owned by the same guy that owns Fox News and the New York Post, one Rupert Murdoch. Now, is there some other subject about which you wish to profess your ignorance?

This. We'll do what we did during the Clinton years for Africa; get bit once, and never go back. But, you know, we'll have international support for staying the fark out, and letting them kill themselves, as well as disrupt global trade. I mean, when there's genocide going on, I guess we could lease the UN some Bradleys...not even volunteer them free of charge.

And the French will fix it, but hardly anyone will give them credit for it.

/Even some people well-versed in international relations don't understand this

I don't know enough about Sarkozy to hazard an opinion, but Obama has proven himself indecisive (he walked out of the original bailout discussions because he hadn't consulted his 300 advisers yet, he's the the only president to take a teleprompter to every single speech, etc.), easily bribed (he was one of the chief recipients of money from Fannie), and overall one of the worst fiscal policy makers ever (was one of the leading liberals who voted against proper regulation of Fannie and Freddie, and his idea of solving the crisis is to pretty much randomly distribute 3-7 trillion dollars - depending on who you listen to - that we don't have) Basically, his goal is to give the federal government complete control over everything.

And he probably wasn't even born American. He's also either a racist or a closet Muslim, depending on how you look at things.

NewportBarGuy [TotalFark] 2009-04-17 03:41:56 AM
