(Gigwise) Interesting P Diddy looks at all the bands to sign on his label and chooses Arctic Monkeys: "A lot of people probably don't know this, but I am probably the biggest Arctic Monkeys fan." Possibly the only male fan, too   (gigwise.com) divider line 29

A lot of well-known rappers (well-known by Fark standards anyhow) are into more than just music that falls under the hip-hop umbrella. Jay-Z/Dr. Dre/50Cent/Em/Timbaland

Anyhow, I know he won't get any sort of credit here amongst the poorly disguised racists and haters.. but P Diddy is a smart businessman (as odd as that is to write)..I'm sure this is a good move for him..somehow.

If you watch the video - and I'm not 100% sure - it looks like P Diddy is trying to keep them from making a big deal about the video-copying idea by "being friends".

Watch it again.

They talk about going to find him and talk to him about this allegedly copied idea, then all of a sudden, with the poor Arctic Monkeys guy looking a bit intimidated, P Diddy goes on about how the Arctic Monkeys are his favorite, and they're just suddenly going to be released on Bad Boy Records, and "come on a tour of my house", while the guy narrating sits on a couch looking defeated and saying "Yeah, he's the nicest guy, the most gracious host" etc.

...as if before they filmed this, P Diddy was like "The fark you think you doin' coming up in here with that bullshiat about my video? Tell you what, we're gonna make a new video right now, you and me, saying we friends, that Arctic Monkeys are gonna release their music through Bad Boy now, so no one thinks NOTHIN' is up. If not, my boys over there might have somthin' to say 'bout it. Got that?"

...or maybe he's really a fan. It just...something seems strange about this to me. Maybe it's just me.

/DISCLAIMER: Pure speculation. OH PLEASE DON'T KILL ME DIDDY! OH shiat HE'S IN MY HOU

Ya, I think you're right. I remember hearing a similar story about the black guy bullying the white guy when Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson put out "Ebony and Ivory."

Ah, the Fark music tab. Where everyone's favorite band is everyone's least favorite band.

Hahahaha. There are plenty of bands I dont like. The Arctic Monkey's second album wasnt very strong at all.

Radiohead, while talented, are not my cup of tea.

/They are one of my girls favorite bands

I heard Josh homme is producing the arctic monkeys next one. I think he and diddy get on.
I love Josh but the arctics are just another northern indie-pop band destined for nothingness.

having never really heard of them until a fark reference a few weeks ago i just listened to some of their stuff. the lyrical style bothers me (the guy seems to have some trouble with the concept of "holding a tune")- big 'ole meh from me. Whats the appeal?

Smart move Monkeys, rappers that sign with Puffy disappear into obscurity after their first album on the label. I don't think there's an artist above ground that's had two hit albums with him.

Arctic Monkeys are a good young band with a lot to prove. As for the weakness of the second album, I mean, it's the proverbial sophomore slump. (I did like it though just not as much as the first album).

P. Diddy sucks and is now about as relevant as Suge Knight.

Not happy with this move if it is really the case. F U Diddy.

I think the truth is in Winktologist's post.

I am sure P. Diddy is sorting him out now. Winkologist is sure to have another post saying he was all wrong and that P. Diddy is the greatest rapper ever.

Don't understand why people are so down on the second album. It's dynamite. Some great tunes. All around good stuff.

Double aagggh! I didn't know that I was supposed to hate Cake, too. I can't keep up.

Feel free to not like it; it is music and it would be weird if it appealed to everyone. The big flick, however: you're not amplifying your opinion into some "well-known, common-knowledge fact." If only others could get that trick down.

This.

Favourite Worst Nightmare wasn't bad at all, I would even say some of the songs are more memorable than in Whatever people say... Do Me a Favour makes me want to get drunk and just get beat up to make up for every horrible thing I've ever done. If you Were There, Beware is a great "walk in a crowded area and mouth the words to passersby" song, and when it things drop in 505, I feel like I can jump a god damn cliff.

/Not Puff Daddy btw
