I think Michael Jackson's mugshot was worse.

I don't think he's been able to blink since about 1993.

His story of what happened that night was so batshiat crazy that I have no idea what that first jury could have possibly been thinking when they didn't convict him

Phil Spector to appeal the juries call.

It's not his place, no it's not his place, it's not his place on 24 hour lock down.

They bought into Henry Lee's reputation when he said Clarkson was so depressed she accidentally committed suicide, apparently.

At some point there will be a photo "leaked" which shows Phil bald (which he has been for about 35-40 years) He won't be allowed to wear a wig while in prison and I assume each place which holds him will be photographing him for their records.

My guess is that a photo of him sans wig will upset him more than actually having to go to prison. BTW, I wonder how long before his gold-digging (new) wife is out painting the town red?

I didn't know Lana Clarkson, but one of my friends new her for years. He was interviewed by a couple of the news outlets covering the trial as he was origninally scheduled to be a witness to rebut the testimony that she was suicidal. He was actually working with her on a new script and they had a good shot at it getting made when she was killed. I know he is ecstatic that Phil finally got his.

Um, don't you need GROUNDS for an appeal? Improper representation, jury misconduct, judge was drunk, etc? He got a fair trial, was convicted, and BTW clearly GUILTY. So where is the grounds?

Did you... I dunno, read the article?

The lawyers believe the ex-girlfriends testimonial was improperly allowed it. Illegal evidence that could have had an effect on the verdict is usually considered grounds for appeal.

Personally, I think they're full of crap, but they might get lucky with the appeal judge.

So why was this not objected to at the time? Are the alleging judicial misconduct for allowing it? Or were they just setting a booby trap in case they needed a THIRD try? Lawyers are scum. I sat next to a pair at dinner this evening and overheard a lot of conversation. They laugh at us. Interesting, I always see them in groups. Decent folks won't associate with them.

It WAS objected to at the time. An appeal is simply asking a higher court to say that the trial judge F'd up and that the mistakes were bad enough to warrant a new trial (or new sentence).

It works like this:

1. Prosecutor calls a witness (or asks a certain question)
2. Defense objects (hearsay for example)
3. Judge overrules objection, trial continues.
...conviction...
4. Appeal the judge's decision to overrule your objection.
:::A. Appeals court agrees with you, but says mistake didn't materially alter trial.
:::B. Appeals court agrees with you, and orders a new trial
:::C. Appeals court disagrees with you and says judge was right the first time.

If the lawyer never objected in the trial stage, then the trial judge would have made no ruling, and therefore there would be nothing to appeal.

Oh...and lawyers hang out with each other for the same reasons engineers, architects, waiters, sales people, and everyone else choose to hang out with each other. When you work together, you tend to hang out together.

Oh...the lawyers at dinner....they weren't laughing at non-lawyers in general...they were just laughing at you.

Phil Spector doesn't want to die in jail. The Spector estate still has money.
The sleazy lawyer Weinberg is going to attempt to milk this cash cow dry.

Based on your posts, I don't blame them for laughing at you.

To be fair, only a couple of them did. The first jury was deadlocked 10-2 in favor of conviction.

I really have to sympathize with him. I mean, women I pick up at bars commit suicide at my house ALL the time. It's nearly a damn weekly occurrence.
