They nixed the video projection that DEVO put together to accompany "That's Good." In the video, "Bob [Casale] is being ridden like a horse by a blonde," explains Casale. "Then an animated french fry flies through the air one way, and an animated glazed donut flies through the air the other way, and the french fry goes through the donut, and it cuts to the girl snapping her head back with a big smile on her face on the words, 'That's good.'"

I love DEVO.

More evidence that DEVO is a bunch of dweebs who take themselves way too seriously. I kinda liked them when I thought they were just doing it for laughs, but when I heard about how butthurt they were over Weird Al spoofing their style in Dare To Be Stupid, I realized that they were actually putting forth their best effort... they honestly believed that they were making good music with meaningful lyrics.

Seriously. You got hit on by SJP back when she was still attractive. The only legit excuse for hating that is if you prefer men exclusively.

Ah yes, I fondly remember watching that video on the 'Video Jukebox' of the time at the Student Union at Cal State L.A. when I was in the ACE* program and playing Zaxxon. One of the more oft-requested songs for some reason. Pretty sure it was for the blonde chick. Plus it was a good song.

ACE = Accelerated College Enrollment. I was going to be a sophmore in HS, but took a summer of college classes. My microbiologist lab teacher was pretty hot, but they weren't doing that teacher/teenage kid sex thing back then. We had to settle for fapping to Devo videos or Dad's porn stash on VHS. Mmmmmm...VHS boobies.

I'm thinking of the "LA Story" era. That movie resurrected her career. She was definitely headed for lifetime movie land otherwise. So the film has that working against it, but I still like it.

Agreed. I absolutley love Devo, and made the mistake of booking them for a web interview when they came to Australia - they do say never meet your heroes, that is quite true in this case.

In the intro I said "they are known for their wacky lyrics, kooky electro pop and off the wall costumes. But there is more to Devo than meets the eye etc."

To which Mark Mothersbough immediatley said "our lyrics arent whacky, we are here to dispell those myths", and generally made the interview very awkward from that point, really threw me. Gerald Casale was quite cool though.

However, they are very odd people and do take themselves extremely seriously.

Well, considering that the impetus for starting DEVO was as a reaction to the Kent State shootings, I'd say Mark was in the right on that one.

This is an enjoyable 4-minute interview starring Devo taken in 1981 with now CNN anchor Jack Cafferty. He's not at all "in" on it.

Bonus points if you reach the end when Jack throws it back to the news anchor. She's not at all in on it either.

/great to be here, thanks
