Morgaine dies, Tim and Whatsherface divorce, and now this.

I'm not even a huge fan of electro-pop, but I love me some "Emperor Tomato Ketchup." For some reason, "Cybele's Reverie" zeroes right in on the dopamine pump in my brain and squeezes the living shiat out of it.

Good stuff.

They've been at it forever. They could probably use a break.

For me it's Transient Noises. My fav song of theirs is Lo Boob Oscillator: awesome title, catcy, and the way Laticia says "Changeante". It's like she's licking my inseam. Everything after Transient bored me. :(

Saw them ages ago. The only autograph i could get was Morgaine's. :(

Please tell me Morgane didn't die too. Mary Hansen was enough of a shock.

I love Stereolab. Seriously. Love.

they are a great band

they always sonically acknowledged influences like Can or Faust
but then went on to make it their own.

it's hard to impress me,
and i'm impressed by Stereolab at their best.

They also owe an awful lot to NEU! and Cluster as well.

No problem.

I play in a band that shamelessly steals from Ashra Tempel.

i was never really a huge stereolab fan, but to this day one of the best live shows i've ever seen was when they played st. andrews in like 95 or so. a perfect blend of just a mindblowing wall of sound coupled with a friendly, low-key performance. when they had the farfisa drones going so loud that you could feel it in your toes the effect was hypnotic.

i like the krautrocky stuff more than the french space jazz stuff so i kinda stopped paying attention to what they were doin over the years..

I'm discerning and I think that Sterolab, not unlike ever recording artist/composer in the world, has compositions that I adore and ones that I don't.

you may be harder to impress than you realize...
good for you!

I'm discerning and I think that Sterolab, not unlike every recording artist/composer whose works I take to heart has some dud tracks and some that I adore with every fiber of my being.

rewritten for clarity and to improve my point and because I both suck and blow at getting what's in my head down into writing on my first attempt.

Sucks. Great band.

As much as I hate "Art House" electronic music, I give them props for going at it for so long.

What on earth is art house electronic music?

Glitchwerks 2009-04-15 04:06:21 PM
flaminglip: You know, the kind of music they play in art houses.. DUH.

Haven't you ever been to an art house?

No, I guess not. I did see Stereolab live once. It was not at an art house.
