There's no spelling mistakes, no glaring omission of details, no biased, inflammatory skewing of the story. This headline can't possibly be Fark-ready.

I forgot about C-Murder. He was with No Limit Records when they had those goofy, "we makin' dollas, yo" album covers.

Who can forget other top No Limit rappers like Rappin' 4-Tay, Mia X, and about 100 cousins of Master P?

Oh wait, everyone forgot those scrubs.

Yeah, but for a while there, they were flooding the market and selling a hell of a lot of product.

Too bad Master P spend it all on gold plated tanks.

UHHHHHHHHHHH!

I always liked Conan's monologue joke about C-Murder, which seems like forever ago (when this charge came up). Conan said he would try to change his name to C-Manslaughter as a plea bargain.

I for one am sick of this obvious "racial" profiling!

I mean, just because a guy calls himself "C-murder" is no reason to just assume that he might, you know, kill someone.

There is certainly nothing remotely hypocritical about a man so named, who is on house arrest, hosting an "anti-crime" presser.

Much like the reverand Haggard discussing the evils of homosexuality or Newt Gingrich discussing the "sanctity of marriage", who better to discuss the perils of "crime" than this guy?

/let he who has not killed pop the first cap.

C-Murder is Master P's brother and thus, Little Romeo's Uncle.

Silk the Shockker was the other brother.

Rappin 4-Tay was never on No Limit Records. He's from the Yay Area, and I believe he worked for Rap-A-Lot.

E-40, unrelated to this thread, is the best rapper ever.

/thank you

Honestly I think it's easier to remember the names & relations in the bible. I hope there isn't going to be a quiz.

Oh, wait - they're rappers. Education is like kryptonite to them.

Is there a double meaning? No.
Is there a second audience? No.
Is there divine justice? No.
Is the situation the opposite of what should be expected? No.

Congrats! It passed the Professor Morrisette's Ironic Filter!

Really? I should expect someone named after a crime most haneous (who's actively under a form of criminal detention) to be holding an 'Anti-crime press conference'?

/Maybe I should have attended those Ted Kennedy Anti-DWI meetings at the drive-through liquor store last month

Tried to submit this with a similar headline this morning but got beat to the post. When I saw it on nola.com this morning, I laughed. If you RTFA, the 'minister' that is sponsoring the rally is also leading an effort to get Joseph Cao recalled. Cao ran against "Dollar" Bill Jefferson on a platform of "I'm not Dollar Bill Jefferson" and despite being a Republican in a HEAVILY Democratic district, he was able to win (turnout was incredibly low). So what's so funny about the 'minister' and his recall effort? He's served time for fraud and identity theft. Real winner. Man of God, I'm sure. No thanks, if I'm going for 'man of God' leadership, I'll go with Cao, the guy who gave up a private law practice to work immigration law for a non-profit serving Vietnamese boat people.

/Was wearing my Vote of Cao shirt this morning

Yeah, New Orleans is one of those places where even I would end up voting Republican.

While relatively few of them have actually served time for it, I personally consider pretty much all members of the clergy to be guilty of "fraud".

Anyone who has closely studied the bible, yet would claim that it is "inerrant" is a fraud IMHO.

Yes, the anti-crime program will include such lectures as:

No witnesses no crime. C-Murders guide to getting ride of snitches.

No body no crime. C-Murders guide to getting rid of evidence.

I'm sure you'll beat me next time, jpat.

For anyone interested in the followup, here's an article on the actual press conference:

http://www.nola.com/news/index.ssf/2009/04/cmurder_renounces_crime_joins.html

Both C-Murder and the pastor declined to answer questions on their own legal issues.

In fairness to them both 1) The pastor was never accused of a violent crime, so speaking out against it isn't necessarily hypocritical, 2) It's possible C-Murder really is repenting.

There was a brutal triple slaying in a nearby community this weekend, in which a 19-year-old babysitter, her toddler, and an infant were executed, perhaps as part of a drug retaliation (drugs were found on the premises, and when the infant's mom showed up, hysterical, the police tased her, found more drugs, and arrested her too).

I'd have posted that to Fark as well, if it weren't so mind-blowingly sad. The victims were all black, so it didn't crack the 24-hour news cycle (yeah, I'm cynical). Anyway, maybe it made C-Murder take a long look at his life. I don't know.

It's still ironic.

I'm more or less convinced a glitter-obsessed 5-year-old was their art director in the late 90s.

Two Questions...

Uno: I don't remember 4-Tay on No Limit. When was that?

Dos: Didn't he (C-Murder) change his name during his 'vacation' after the whole murder investigation?

*thinks to himself* I'm really having a conversation about 90's era dirty south rap on FARK. Is there anything Fark can't do?

Vivid memories of all this, man. I was in middle school during the height of this stuff... and we loved it. Because we were 13. By the way, that comment is GOLD.
