(Houston Chronicle) Hero Rocky Hill has died after a lifetime apprenticed to the blues. He wore blue hair in the '60s, caged drinks for Lightning Hopkins, and introduced his brother to the rest of ZZ Top. Six billion posers have a moment of silence   (chron.com) divider line 17

I had no idea about this guy. Youtube has nothing on him. Too bad, sounds like stuff I'd like

And why is this important?

Tumunga: You're upset that anything gets green lighted, aren't you?

He's a font of misplaced rage. Name your cliché; Mother held him too much or not enough, last picked at kickball, late night sneaky uncle, whatever. Now he's so angry moments of levity actually cause him pain; gives him headaches. Happiness, for that gentleman, hurts.

I never saw him or heard him play, but I have heard folks say that he was very impressive on the guitar. I found the story interesting, particularly the points about Dusty and Rocky choosing different musical paths and how it all turned out.

Ah, one of those little whiners who has something to say about any subject, just for the sake of whining. Say no more, say no more.

Texas Shuffle got some college radio airplay around here and I remember liking it, but after that I heard nothing more and figured the guy had moved on.

Sad story, and a common one in the music biz.

Watch, now his music becomes de rigeur for the midlife crisis crowd and his albums all go multiplatinum.

Sucks for ZZ Top

But I had never heard of him, just his brother Dusty.

so if Dusty Hill was Hank Hill's cousin, that means Hank Hill's lost another family member? damn, that waS a terrible episode of King of the Hill.

"Caged drinks for Lightning Hopkins"? Were these some kind of bizarre animated liquid libations that would run away from Hopkins if not kept locked up? I believe that subby is trying to overextend a limited vocbulary by misspelling and misusing the word "cadge," which means to obtain something without paying for it (by begging and the like, not by theft).

I now know more about Rocky Hill than I care to know about
that Kanye West dude or what's-his T-Pain face guy.
And I'm better for it.
