If anyone is disconnected from reality, it would by the libtards at "Crooks and Liars". Rove, an utter douchebag if there ever was one, has a better grip on reality, and people, than almost anyone else on the planet.

I agree. That guy is more slippery than a catfish in a jar of Vaseline. He hasn't lasted this long because he's deluded.

Capitalist1 [TotalFark] 2009-04-12 06:08:27 PM
They're piling onto Rove right now because he called Biden out on the truly brainless lies Biden told about scolding Bush in the White House.

This level of vitriol is reserved for times whent the Democrats' delusional Messiah complex is threatened by facts.

yeah, being able to flagrantly ignore legal subpoenas that would have put any one of us in jail is helpful.

Between Glenn Back and Karl Rove and a few others, WAY too many people seem willing to chalk their crap up to mental impairment than to the real culprit:

The sheer erotic joy they feel in manipulating large groups of people.

Yup, I don't "like" Rove, but he knows his shiat, and the left just fell for it again.

He was RIGHT about Biden lying about Bush. He knows that if HE comes out and points out the obvious lie, the liberals will be more up in arms about HIM talking about it than the lie itself. In one swoop he exposes Biden's lie to the country, and opens the door for liberal OMG BUT TEH KARLROVE@@@!!!

I would say that I "respect" Karl Rove, but I use that term loosely because I could also say that I "respect" Joseph Goebbels

I was GOING to agree with you, but then I thought about some of the comments he made about Obama's White House and the ethical problems it has.

Then I laughed heartily.

"We might want to pity Karl Rove because Karl is completely disconnected from what's going on in the real world"

In the real world, if you commit criminal acts, you suffer the consequences of your actions. You don't get a lucrative deal from Fox News.

So I agree that Rove is disconnected from the real world, but I do not agree that he deserves our pity.

spamdog: What is this lie about Bush that Biden apparently said?

It's typical he said, he said bullshiat. Biden claims he chastised Bush fore being a shiatty leader during a private one hour encounter, Rove claims that Biden was never alone with Bush for any amount of time...and also that Biden is a liar and a doodyhead.

Newbaca 2009-04-12 10:37:17 PM
Meh, he's more fiction than fact. Mostly overrated hype drummed up by the media. I'm surprised there are still people in awe of him.

And we should believe Rove's interpretation of events because...

But Biden is a liar. Saying Rove is a liar doesn't excuse Biden.

Newbaca: Meh, he's more fiction than fact. Mostly overrated hype drummed up by the media. I'm surprised there are still people in awe of him.

There's a lot of that, yeah. He's not a bogeyman, he's just a very successful propagandist. It's not like he was even the first of his kind. Lee Atwater was probably even better at it.

I'm just constantly aggravated by how the mainstream media treats him as if he's somehow going to give them his honest opinion rather than give them what he has for the past three decades: a message crafted to create a desired partisan political effect. The "truth" is only one minor means to that end, in the minds of people like Rove. And yet he's treated as some sort of "insider" who's going to give us the "real story".

The only Story Karl Rove is ever going to give you is the one he WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE. People like him can't turn it off. In that sense, it is a kind of mental illness.

culebra 2009-04-12 10:45:06 PM
Mrbogey: But Biden is a liar. Saying Rove is a liar doesn't excuse Biden.

In this case, considering the source of the alternative scenario, there is no reason to disbelieve Biden's account. It's not that unthinkable that he would have had Bush's ear for an hour and delivered to him some very pointed message regarding his lack of leadership.

That Rove exaggerated Biden's statement even while calling Biden an exaggerator is typical Rove chicanery and leaves us where we began: with Biden's rather mundane statement. Rove is a noise machine. Elegant at times, but a noise machine nonetheless.

No, Rove is calling Biden a liar. Rove is a liar, so that raises the question of whether we can take his word that Biden is in fact lying.

I certainly wouldn't put it past Biden to exaggerate about his encounter with Bush, but that's not something an egotist like Biden is going to outright lie about.

Wow, I'm shocked. You're trying to tell me that power players inside the beltway lose focus of what is happening outside of Washington DC? This is a front-page scandal if I've ever heard of one. Shout it from the rooftops!

It's not just Rove saying this. Biden has been called out before for completely fabricating events to suit his narrative.

Don't cling to the fantasy of some evil geniuses that have spun out of touch in a matter of a couple of years. They know that all the concentrated nutbaggery from the right is pushing normal people away. They're not idiots. They own FOX, they own Limbaugh, they're doing it on purpose!

It's up to you to figure out why.

Isn;t it better hearing about a VP who has permanent diarhea of the mouth than it is hearing about one who shoots people, tortures people, and has a squad of assassins?

Why is anyone even the least bit concerned with what this pathetic weasel has to say, other than as comedic relief for the chronically bored and over-farked?

Jeebus Xrist, the undiluted douchebaggery of Rove was so astounding, he should've been launched into the sun... But Faux believes he's some kind of pundit? Launch 'em all into the farking sun.
Or banish them to Whaaaaaaaa Island, off the coast of Antarctica.

I just don't believe that. I think a few of them have an inkling of the consequences that marginalizing the conservative movement could have for their agendas, but I really do think that right-wing ideology intertwined with spectacle is ALL for these people.

I've seen a couple of insiders say that people like Ailes and Murdoch would immediately turn their media outlets into liberal propaganda sources "if there was money in it". I don't buy that for a SECOND, although it's a convenient foil for critics.

There is no doubt in my mind that these people, in a general sense, see themselves as "shepherds" of public opinion. More specifically, people like Limbaugh and Beck and Hannity have romanticized their roles and probably view themselves as guerrillas fighting ruthless commando-style engagements against the forces of "liberalism".

That's how they justify their mindsets. That's how they justify the satisfaction they glean from deliberately presenting arguments and anecdotes they KNOW are most likely false as if they were unquestionably true as a matter of their daily duties. The ends justify the means when the battle is "righteous".

And, not so coincidentally, that's one of the primary reasons these people are so obsessed with justifying government torture and Nixonian dirty tricks: they see themselves in those actions. They see the justifications they repeat to themselves for their deliberate propagandizing mirrored in the justifications of torture and military aggression.
