yeah me, I did get one greenlit though:

I thought it was stupid of him to do that, no American President should ever bow to any foreign leader, but lying about it is quite stupid. Not that big a deal, just stupid.

Yet it's somewhat comforting to see that even if there's a brand new administration in the White House, it's definitely business as usual.

I like how the piece includes a quote from Saudi media, which boils down to, "Oh that was a nice gesture, maybe he would like a spirit of peace and cooperation."

You know, instead of, "He bowed! Allah is King! *ululate*" as everyone seems so afraid.

I think up until last month, there was one Farker who basically had 90% of the political greens. He wasn't for a side, however, but saw that the admins will green anything flamebait enough and went with that (basically submitting for both sides). Lately, he's been lashing out against Obama supporters for being called out his on anti-Obama greens (which were, not surprisingly, BS), which he just did to get the green. Basically, he's mad that his trolling headlines are ridiculed and blames Obama supporters for being asses, even though he only did it because that's how the current green selection on the political works thanks to the admins.

So, should we blame the submitter who made it flamey to get a green, or the admins who green it?

I don't disagree with this sentiment.

Where we diverge is your indefensible defense of the White House's ridiculous attempt to lie about it. The issue posited by the link and the headline are not the bow but the atrocious attempt at trying to hide something that really wouldn't have been an issue for more than a day had the White House simply said "Obama bowed to the king as a sign of respect and graciousness" and left it at that.

The unconscionable lie is very reminiscent of the way the Clinton administration made quite a habit of lying about things that, in retrospect, didn't need to be lied about. This is no surprise considering how many Clinton staffers are back in the White House.

/this is not a b-b-but Clinton argument
//I found the Bush administration to be far more sinister and pervasive in their lies
///Clinton's lies were mostly unnecessary whereas Bush's were calculated as a means to an end

Dogg ain't no "white house". It was an unspecified source connected to the government. Nobody knows who said it, and it certainly wasn't a press release. Of course defending the handshake thing is dumb, he obviously didn't do that. But "The White House" isn't trying to pull any wool in any directions, if you catch me.

Why not? It's just a simple show of respect. Goodness forbid we might actually show a little humility to anyone else though, right?

I guess when conservatives have nothing of actual substance to pick on, these are the bread crumbs they are left with, so I can't exactly blame them for such a display of idiocy in making this an "issue".

Uh, you do know that middle picture was photoshopped?

Additionally, it's proper courtesy and common practice for Saudis (particularly royalty) to hold hands and kiss eachother on the cheek as a greeting and as a sign of mutual respect and cooperation (which is what really transpired).

You would know this if you bothered to do any research as opposed to just blindly accepting and believing whatever you're told.

It's also sadly ironic this is probably something you criticize many conservatives for doing.

If represents America as a whole, not himself. It has nothing to do with humility. America certainly does not have to feel humility or give honor to a country like Saudi Arabia.

Mutual respect, fine, but certainly nothing above that.

I guess when conservatives have nothing of actual substance to pick on, these are the bread crumbs they are left with, so I can't exactly blame them for such a display of idiocy in making this an "issue".

I gave a list of about 10 points of problems I had with Obama so far, and that was just stuff he did in his first two weeks or so.

Don't pretend he hasn't done anything wrong.

I've seen one clip, repeated over and over. It looks like he bowed to me, and I'm a proud libtard.

I would be curious to see a comparison of libtard and conservatard blogs then and now. See who defended one and not the other, who condemned both, and even who defended both.

Should Obama have bowed? Dunno. Dunno what's appropriate protocol. If he did, should he have lied about it? Absolutely not. I wonder what a FOIA could turn up from daily briefings about this topic.

Seems like bowing (if he did) undermines his message (at the least) that he is working to get America off of foreign oil.

/can't handle the truth

I dunno man. they got all our oil. And it's not like we've got what you'd call a healthy or sane plan for building replacement alternatives. so we probably should play nice nice with the touchy feel-y turban dudes until we get can get our nuclear power plant project off the ground.

As I said, it's perfectly fine to give them mutual respect, but the only reason we even give them that is because they have oil. Otherwise we would be scorning and shunning them.
