Mrike Rrucaj was sleeping when a bullet flew into her house

Mrike Rrucaj. Eesh, I wonder how that name is pronounced in English.

Sure, but how did they fail to notice the Louisville Slugger in Nancy Grace's ass?

I'd find it amusing if the first name is pronounced: "Mister Ike". Really. Also, the last name is prolly spelled backwards. Jacurr, or something.

yeah, because the whole waking up with a bloody face doesn't warrant further personal investigation?

Thank god we're more civilized than that. Who ever heard of an armed rebellion against fraudulent pyramid schemes. The nerve.

The article fails to mention whether she was in the kitchen at the time or not

To be fair: from the pictures I've seen of Albanian women you wouldn't even be able to notice if they had a mortar round lodged in their face.

/hoping for someone to supply pics to prove me wrong

Probably "Marika Rukay", if the spelling follows the tendency of J's being pronounced as Y's in the nations surrounding Albania. Maybe the double R would be pronounced differently, but unless told otherwise, I'm going to assume the extra R is merely a superfluous holdover from an archaic spelling.

*shrug*

Not that it matters, I'm just taking a wild shot at it.

Cases like this make me wonder about the current lead hysteria.

If people can live with a chunk of lead directly in contact with their bloodstream for 12 years with no ill effects other than that caused by having a chunk of something embedded in their heads, how toxic is lead really?

It would seem that the answer is "not so much."

So why are people being so stupid paranoid about lead?

Sure, having it injected directly into your bloodstream is different than eating it. And neither is something I'd recommend as an ideal thing to do. But lead solder makes our electronics last a lot longer than the alternatives, lead paint lasts longer than most of the alternatives, it's really easy to work with, and it's an incredibly useful material.

You know what?

Cases like this make me wonder about the current getting shot in the head hysteria.

If people can survive getting shot in the head with no major ill effects for 12 years, how lethal is getting shot in the head really.

It would seem that the answer is "not so much."

So why are people being so stupid about getting shot in the head?

The scary thing is that this farking stuff happens all the time. I recently heard a story about a guy that had a nail in his nose for 30 some odd years and was unaware of it's presence until they gave him an MRI for chronic headaches. When it ripped through his flesh, they figured they solved the headache issue, but not the sanity one.
