I don't really understand what it means to be "revelant" in musical terms. You are either good or not good. "Relevance" has nothing to do with it.

I'd disagree. Music can be social commentary, like in this case. And he's a few years too late, making this a little irrelevant. I can like good older music yet concede that the social statements the artists made are no longer relevant.

It's really just different angles. If a song makes a very strong social statement, and is relevant to how the country is feeling at the time, it will become more popular.

So this guy says his fans aren't under forty, Billo says his fans aren't over 25, and neither of them gets it right, the fans are probably between 20 and 35. Of course saying that his fans inhabit the choicest advertising demographic doesn't marginalize him in the way they want so they can't say that. The truly funny thing about it is that Eminem ISN'T all that influential anymore, having nothing to do with the demographic that he has an appeal to and everything to do with the fact that his popularity within that target demographic has been declining for several years.
