Now those are two legends I never imagined playing together.

Just magic!

"We'll give it to 'em in black and white."

And this from a man who lived those times. Amazing, that sense of humor.

I was at a Starbucks and they were playing Armstrong's Le Vie En Rose. I missed my train because I just had to hear the whole song.

/There will never be anyone like Armstrong again
//Or Johnny Cash, for that matter

Me too - or rather, this.

/Louis Armstrong trying to yodel might be the best thing ever.

My farkin Dodge minivan has this feature that keeps the audio playing after you shut off the engine until you open a door. I gather up the essentials as another passage plays, and it keeps me in my little fantasy world. Then, the passage must end. It has made me look like the spastic noob for meetings well into my forties.

why can't they have TV like this anymore?

Probably because most likely they would pair Chris Cornell with Kanye. They wouldn't pick two good musicians. There isn't much money in "good." It is almost if you can rank a musicians talent by how worried they are about making their mortgage payment. Compared to someone like Britney who is shopping for another gold plated toilet seat.

Nice link. Another good show for looking for talent is the old Smothers Brothers. That had some great guests.

But hopefully there'll be men of equal greatness.

I'm a huge fan of both of them but I'll argue there are definitely people as talented as them alive today. Having the same amount of class as them is a different story.

Hasn't anyone seen Spectacle with Elvis Costello or the Chris Isaak Hour?!

Farkomatic 2009-04-11 10:44:05 AM
This sucked. They aren't even playing their own music, show no emotion when they are playing, and nobody would buy that crap today. You need to listen to groups* such as Morning Reform, Marooned Paradox, Homicide Substitute, and Windchill Calamity if you want to see real talent.

Did that just about cover everything?

How many indie rock douche bags does it take to screw in a light bulb?

/It's a pretty obscure number, you've probably never heard of it.

I am pretty sure the above is all kinds of sarcasm. Nothing bad can be said of this video with a straight face.

I realize that, I just can't pass up an opportunity to use that joke. I should have left a second slashy noting that.

You forgot to mention how you used to watch Oreo Shaub jam on brass with Bevel (before they dropped their drummer and picked up Nunez from Nicholas' Red Day) down at the Churro before they turned it into a Chuck E Cheese and how so much talent died that week thanks to Herbs like us sucking on the mainstream teat.

Pure win indeed - great find subby. I love how Armstrong's solo makes so much effective use of space. Such perfect taste.

Shouldn't have put the asterisk. I totally would have bought it if it wasn't for that. On a related note, I'm going to steal one of those for the name of a song or something.

Nope. Just nope. A couple of good guys, sure. But that sucked.

F__king awesome find, subby.

Thanks for sharing.

Dear Jerk 2009-04-11 10:52:46 PM
As good as that was, keep in mind Armstrong was weaker than ever and Cash would go on to get a lot better.

It is. And for a real head-twister go fine the clip of
Pavarotti and James Brown doing 'It's a Man's World'...

Where are those idiots from the Chet Atkins clip to tell us that
Louis can't play the trumpet and Johnny can't sing...?
