So? A band can't be selective in how they end up being branded? The Thermals turned down a Hummer commercial and said they would've been interested if it were anything but a Hummer.

"Take Me Out" was in a PSP commercial several years ago, too.

/i wanna be Bob Dylan?

Ironic, considering their music is cheap, commercial pablum.

TFA didn't say anything about the reason behind it, but I think subby was using "cheap" in a slightly more abstract/relative sense of the word; that is to say merchanise in general is cheap in comparison to the value of the fine art that is "Dance, Michael."

Franz Ferdinand should go back to the open-air coach in Sarajevo where they belong.

/Go, Princip, go!

Wasn't a Franz Ferdinand song in one of the Burnout games for X-Box? Or am I mistaken?

A music player is an appropriate endorsement for a band. Cheap, nasty food is not.

Is someone seriously not getting this?

"Bite Hard" is a great song...maybe the best on the new album. Suck it, haters.

"Bite Hard" live. (new window)

Good call. Yours makes more sense than mine.

But what if the cheap, nasty food in question is delicious Taco Bell (the first chain that TFA brought to mind)?

Bands are free to choose who they license their music to, but let us not pretend that whoring your music for crap produced by one giant, multi-national corporation (Apple) is somehow morally superior to whoring it out for crap from some other giant, multi-national corporation (fast food place).

Your favorite band is a sellout. Or an aspiring sellout. Varying degrees of success is the only difference. Get over it.

NO NO NO.

THIS is ABOUT ARTISTIC INTEGRERITY. IF THYE SELLOUT to oen product/company, they're legally and amorrrally required to sell out to ALL companeis.

I think the whole album is excellent. Better than "You Could Have It..." That video makes me like Bite Hard just a little bit more.

/every major musician or band sells out in some way
//deal with it

Subby is so wrapped up in the "must criticize everything Apple to seem cool" mindset that he's forgotten that you must always refer to Apple products as "overpriced" no matter what their actual cost.

Bad zombie!

I had to order the two-disc limited edition from Amazon.uk.
Definitely worth it.

/it may be commercialized pop, but I like the Pet Shop Boys as well as I do artists like Bob Dylan and Fleetwood Mac, so whatever

Right, cause the iPod has done nothing for music. Before the iPod, MP3 players barely held 25 songs and just weren't that user friendly.

I don't really like these guys, but "Take me out" is a pretty catchy pop song.

1 - start a band
2 - get recognition
3 - write songs with commercial appeal in title
4 - Profit!

lists some songs with titles like iPod Upod; Mmmmm, this is more tasty than that other fast food place; fly Virgin, it's cheap and fast; So Ferrari So goody, and Star Trek - Nerds are cool.

There a good example of a band that was ruined for me... I like this band, have their first album... now im really just sick of their sound and the singers voice, and 90% of my attitude is from being sick to my stomach of hearing that same song on TV over and over and over for that commercial

my 2 cents
