Read headline.

Said to myself, "Are you serious."

Clicked link.

Yep, they're serious.

Is it any wonder that nobody takes PETA seriously these days?

/Except when they post the State of the Union Undress
//I'm always up for that

she's thrilled to hear the duo has taken her letter seriously.

I'm sure it's a God damned rare occurrence.

Had the exact same reaction. Has to be a joke, right? Right? Wrong.

I bet they'd change their name if PETA changed their name to something like
Don't
Underestimate
Morons
Backing
Animal
Shelter
Samaritans

...or somesuch. I bet folks here could come up with a better acronym for PETA to switch to. (The "Tasty Animals" is thing is played out)

PETA doesn't even try to be a serious organization any more do they? It seems like they're only goal now is to get as much media attention as possible for anything, they are going by the mantra that there is no such thing as bad press.

PETA is simply yet another victim of the Iron Law of Oligarchy^.

Notice how entirely interchangeable those sentences are with, I dunno, political commentators, people who are Famous for No Reason...hell, you just described a great number of people.

I love that song because of the memories I have associated with it when my mom took my sister an I and fled to SF for weeks to spend time with my much older brother and get away from dad for a little while. Every time I hear that song I remember my first trip to SF and spending quality time with my brother, which is precious via its rarity. I haven't listened to it in years. I think I'll go find it online and listen to it now.

I guess they didn't see any opportunity to make lots of money.

carmody 2009-04-09 08:19:54 AM
Do they mean a real rescue shelter, or the PETA shelter where they murder thousands of animals every year?

galactus5000 2009-04-09 08:33:20 AM
PETA can curl up and die for all I am concerned. The more I hear about their batshiat insanity, the closer I get to eating a burger just to spite them.

Hagbardr [TotalFark] 2009-04-09 08:46:05 AM
I think PETA should stick to what they do best: get hot women to pose naked.

Iron Chef Scottish 2009-04-09 09:07:43 AM
This is hardly surprising. I asked them years ago to change their name to 'Sh*t Shop Boys'. Did they even reply to my letter? Did they bollocks.

It is not easy. It is not easy.

Sometimes youre better off dead
Theres gun in your hand and its pointing at your head
You think youre mad, too unstable
Kicking in chairs and knocking down tables
In a restaurant in a west end town
Call the police, theres a madman around
Running down underground to a dive bar
In a west end town

...and don't forget: Let's make lots of money.

This is whats happens when you dont eat meat. Meat made the human brain grow larger. Now you know why PETA comes up with all their stupid ideas, smaller brains!

Has that ever not been their own goal? They realized many moons ago that picketing places where researchers poke needles into the eyes of small animals didn't get any attention, so they started going on about inconsequential shiat, because, well, media latches onto inconsequential shiat.

PETA can eat a bowl of tofudicks for all I care, but PETA's behaviour is more reflective of what media is passing as news.

Peta, take a seat... Now listen up kid. Take a look at Lindsey Lohan, I'm sure you're aware of all the stupid sh*t she's been saying and doing recently. In fact, I wouldn't doubt she'll be broke soon. She certainly is getting a lot of attention; even more than an attention whoring self righteous little twat should be. Now ask yourself do you really, really believe that any press is good press? Because compared to you, she is pretty much Colin Powel.

Well, since we're sharing wistful memories assigned to PEt SHop Boys songs...Both "Being Boring" and, "Jealousy" remind me of a weekend spent in Venezuela giving anal to a girl named Lupe. The days were awash in vodka and lime juice as the sun baked the salts into our skin. When it was time for me to return to the States, we lied to each other and said that we'd write.

PETA is run by animal hating trolls playing a huge prank on people who care about animals.

No other explanation makes sense.

It's a red letter day for PETA, but, se a vida e, I guess. It's so hard for the Pet Shop Boys to undergo a metamorphosis, after all.
