I'll just go ahead and summarize the rest of the thread:

Those bands suck!
No, only one of the bands suck.
Both bands are awesome!
I saw Band #1 back in the day.
Me too! Band #2 puts on a better show.
They both still suck. I can't believe anyone likes them.
Band #3 would have been a better choice.
Band #3 is terrible. I saw them live and walked out.
Band #3 is one of the best artists of the 90s.
That isn't real music. Listen to this jam session by Band #4.
Band #1's only good album was their first album.
Band #1's first album was good, yeah.
Wait, people LIKE band #4?
Isn't band #2 broken up?
I HATE BAND #3! Anyone who likes them sucks.

Yea, and Green Day once opened for Blink. Bleh, Green Day played an awesome 2 and 1/2 hour set. Blink played for 45 minutes. Lame.

You forgot the "they sold out" arguement

Since when is Weezer considered only opening band caliber?

The Glass Dragon 2009-04-08 05:48:57 PM
I never understood why Weezer was so popular. I mean, I really don't have anything against them but I just don't get it. Their songs don't seem all that special.

I'm not sure. Maybe they'll do what they did with the Foo Fighters and "co-headline".

I'm not even a Weezer fan, but I can feel in my bones how unfair this is.

Did this really happen? Maybe they hired Greg as a tutor, and he was double dipping.

Weezer just did a 6 month tour in the second half of 2008, it's not like they never hit the road.

carmody 2009-04-08 05:56:19 PM
Weezer good. Blink 182, meh.

DoblerMeyer [TotalFark] 2009-04-08 06:02:49 PM
Well, this is good news to me. I get to go to another Weezer show, but this time I won't have to put up with a horrible opening act. Then after they play, and Blink is coming up, I can just go home along with half the crowd. Angels and Airwaves, who has one of the guys from Blink 182, opened up for for Weezer on their last stop through Houston and they were pretty pathetic in my opinion.

Susanne, you're dumb for liking Blink 182
You're the dumbest girl in the world

Get a clue, get new tunes

After hearing ZZ Top opening for Aerosmith earlier this week I'm starting to think the world is going topsy-turvy.

Flagg99 2009-04-08 06:34:27 PM
Ugh. I would love to see Weezer. But I'd rather have an ice-pick lobotomy than see Blink...

yeah. They really should have faded into obscurity. If only they'd stop releasing new albums. Just performing old stuff. I also feel the same about Metallica.

bobbette [TotalFark] 2009-04-08 06:46:15 PM
I'm not even a Weezer fan but... ouch!

Blink 182 sucks monkey balls and they haven't been cool since 2001.

They don't have to stop releasing new albums. They should just release good albums.

/Not sure if your comment was snark/sarcasm.

I went to a Blink 182 concert back in 2001. It sucked, and was the dumbest thing I've ever done, next to dating the girl that convinced me to go.

Sad for Weezer.

edronny 2009-04-08 07:00:33 PM
Angels and Airwaves opened for Weezer last fall, so there's some history here. Weezer knows that the Blink reunion tour is gonna gross millions, so you can't blame them for signing on the dotted line.

And any argument that Weezer has sold out is useless because signing a deal with a record label = selling out. Weezer sold out 15 years ago.

/Not defending either band because I'm not interested in this tour at all.

Yep, it was a stadium sized tour. Bad Religion was touring in support of "The New America" album. Don't recall which tour blink was on.

I saw Bad Religion and NoFX at warped tour back in... 2000 maybe. The crowd for bad religion was almost scary then everybody moved over about 100' and was wicked mellow for NoFX. It was cool.

/except for the fact that they ran out of water at 2pm and it was almost 100*

This. I hate to be one of "those guys," but this. The blue album and Pinkerton were the only worthy albums they ever made.

I saw Weezer open for Lush at the Old Vic Theatre in Chicago in July '94. Awesome.

My guess is they are cornering 2 markets with one card - grab the gen-x weezer, the tweeners with blink - guaranteed to fill the venue

Probably after writing songs like "beverly hills" and "pork and beans" or anything since pinkerton
