This makes me happy. They won't announce the full season until early May.

Lila Downs was my favorite act last year.

This will most definitely be a party.
Still not a disco, though.

If you have the chance, go see him. I caught his most recent tour, which may still be going on, and it was fantastic. The Talking Heads classics were obviously amazing and his newest album is pretty great too. Do not miss this.

FTFA:

Recently, Byrne dismissed rumours of a Talking Heads reunion, stating that he did not need the money.

However, he has no qualms about playing the songs of his former band, playing hits including Once in a Lifetime on his recent tour.

This from a guy who sued his old bandmates to keep them from recording an album together without him, under the name "The Heads."fark YOU, Mr. Byrne.

His voice makes me want to pull his brain out through his nose, eyes, and ears.

No accounting for taste, I guess.

I'm hoping my buddies band is playing. If you are from Brooklyn or the NY area check them out.

I just wanted to pose this question since it's been a while since I've seen a David Byrne/TH thread on here. Recently I heard Rockwell's "Somebody's Watching Me" on the radio; does anybody else listen to that song and think it sounds like Talking Heads decided to make a pop song? The talk-singing style of the verses, the focus on cabin-fever style paranoia...I even hear the song in David Byrne's voice now whenever I hear that song.

Tell me you don't see it just a little bit. (new window)

I've heard that MGMT recently is pretty lame live.
Jackson Browne is boring as hell live.
Animal Collective is the worst live band I've ever gone to see.
David Byrne, though, I'd go see David Byrne.

Talking Heads make a pop song? Never happen.

When I read Byrne went to Lansdowne high school outside of Baltimore, I was like "ARE YOU shiatTING ME!?!?!?"

He probably bought stuff from the 3rd Ave Store at one point..

I saw David Byrne at Bumbershoot back in like '97 or '98. Cost like $20 to get in. Awesome show actually.

Saw him do a song from his new album on the Colbert Report recently. Was pretty good.

Gunny Highway: There are people in the world who dont like Talking Heads? Who woulda thunk it?

It's the internet/fark. Doesn't matter the subject, someone will say they don't like something, just to troll/cry/whine/whatever.

Stopheles: This from a guy who sued his old bandmates to keep them from recording an album together without him, under the name "The Heads."fark YOU, Mr. Byrne.

Hadn't heard about this. What were the details? They were going to operate just as a cover band, new material? If they planned to just do Talking Heads material, I would understand Byrne's objections.

I really want to see David Byrne live, he's playing at the Greek in Berkeley but tickets are $75 for a decent view :(

It's worth it. If you really like Talking Heads and David Byrne, you'll have a fantastic time at the show and will dance your ass off.

Since he has a house in downtown Manhattan, I'm guessing he used subway from Union Square Station to get to Brooklyn.
