I really respect the anti-corporate stance of this group, what with their refusal to sell branded merchandise or include their songs in Hollywood productions.

Here's every band for the last 10 years, give or take:

"We're here rocking Target Arena in a concert brought to you on Budweiser and simulcast on Clear Channel radio, with a web feed streamed exclusively to Comcast subscribers. We're playing our Fenders and Gibsons plugged into our Marshall and Mesa-Boogie amps. Our Junior Miss Levi's jeans couldn't be any more fashionable, and don't overlook our authentic Converse All-Star 'punk rock' shoes.

And we're here to tell you that capitalism sucks, and corporate America is evil.

So please don't forget to buy our official shirt on the way out. And remember, if you buy our Warner Records album at Best Buy, you get three bonus tracks not found anywhere else."

Whatever, dude. Name one other band (beside Rage Against the Machine) that has done as much to fight against globalization and corporate greed and exploitation as Fall Out Boys. THATS WHAT I THOUGHT! YOU CANT!

RATM were brilliant at exploiting the angry youth crowd, until they bought into their own message and their egos exploded. Sort of like Tupac.

RATM's message hasn't changed much since their debut, other than becoming a household name. What has changed is that their message has spread to the suburbs. Same with Tupac. From all accounts I've heard Tupac really was "gangsta," but didn't think he could be successful with that message in his music until others were successful with "gangsta rap."

And when I finally got to work today, I ate my Subway sandwich, and I drank my Coca-Cola Classic, and then I ate my Sun Chips, and I thought about the weekend when I'd fill up my Ford van with Mobil brand gas, and drive to the Clear Channel venue, and I'd drink myself a Budweiser, and play my Fender guitar, through my Fender amplifier, and tell the kids with a straight face, through a Shure microphone, and JBL speakers that corporate rock is for suckers

Uh. Yeah.

/Obscure? You bet it is!

Hmmm... Do you suppose they're deluded enough that they actually believe that they're anti-corporate, or is this just carefully calculated like everything else they do?

Without Corporate America, Fallout Boy would not exist.

The Cool tag is at its trolliest.

Want to fight the corporate mindset? My Morning Jacket is releasing an indie store-only album on record store day on 4/18. Just don't wear a cosby sweater or stink of patchouli.

Just for the record, U2 wasn't paid for that add. Not, of course, that they didn't get tons of free exposure from it, but meh.

Nothing's obscure on Fark. I absolutely love that song though, and its message is spot-farking-on.

For those not in the know, this is the ending to Side Projects are Never Successful by Bomb the Music Industry. You can download that song and the rest of the album here. Highly recommend this album along with Scrambles, their latest.
