Cocaine and whiskey can eat through even the richest person's budget.

When you need a guaranteed top-ten hit to bring your income up, Timbaland is the man you need.

Timbaland? The hiking boots?

Let's not be too specific. Timbaland ruins everything, not just Chris Cornell's already dubious musical abilities.

I'd figure she'd hook up with John Tesh. He looks like a cocaine freak.

When is Rivers Cuomo gonna work with Timbaland?

Cocaine and New Age music are not a good combination.

There's a host of top 40 hits and millions of dollar made that totally invalidate your point.

I don't like the Chris Cornell released collab track either.. but be sensible.

"I learned to sing to R&B artists, not rock and roll or country artists. That was my first love, strangely enough."

Yeah, about that. Stevie, back then it actually was "R&B." Not to be confused with the garbage using that same phrase, these days.

There are a host of really good R&B artists out there right now.. in fact, R&B is the only remaining genre from hip-hop that isn't tainted with garbage (much).

see:
Ne Yo
Usher
Anthony Hamilton
Alicia Keys
Anthony David
Mary J
John Legend
Jill Scott
Robin Thicke
Musiq
Brian McKnight
Dwele
Tony Toni Tone
Angie Stone
Kenny Lattimore
D'angelo (coming back)
Joe
Jagged Edge
Babyface
Maxwell - new stuff soon
Jon B - meh.. he needs to bring more

She might want to wait a while to release it, considering Chris Cornell's album is two years ahead of its time. (new window)

Timbaland wasn't the problem on Cornell's record.

Stevie Nicks was hot in her day.

Stevie. Please. Call High Contrast. He's already done a bit with one of your tunes. Trust me, it was tearin'. Pure fire.

Or call Deep Dish back.

I'd still do her. Mainly so I could call my friends and say, "My night? Yeah, it was OK. Oh, btw, I banged Stevie Nicks."

Really. Anyone ever heard of Little Richard? Marvin Gaye? Smokey Robinson? The Supremes? Barry White? Stevie Wonder? Ray Charles? The Four Tops? The Temptations? Sam and Dave? Wilson Pickett? Booker T. and the MGs? The Wrecking Crew? The Ronettes? Martha and the Vandellas? Gladys Knight and the Pips? Bill Withers? George Clinton and the Parliaments? James Brown?

Post-Modern R&B is trash.

I have the music of many more of those artists currently housed on my iPod than the music of those artists on D.K's list (say at a ratio of 19 of your artists to his list's 1).

I recognize a few on your list as having good voices, but Usher and Ne-Yo? Really?

unfarkingbelievable 2009-04-07 08:19:45 AM
Stevie's music has always been about the melody structure. Her songs before Fleetwood Mac are really pretty. (there's a lot of stuff on youtube when she was in Buckhingham Nicks and Fritz).

I always enjoyed her music, and cannot fathom her collaborating with some hiphop junk who has absolutely no clue what rock music is all about. What a huge disappointment.

The songs and lyrics are shiat but Usher and Ne-Yo are probably two of the most capable male mainstream singers right now.
/Here's the hilarious chorus from Ne-Yo's "Mad":
Girl I don't wanna go to bed mad at you
And I don't want you to go to bed mad at me
No I don't wanna go to bed mad at you
And I don't want you to go to bed mat at me
Oh no no no

NO, STEVIE!!!

I say this as a published musician, a huge fan of Ms. Nicks, and a sworn enemy of Timbaland: PLEASE, Stevie, do not work with that plagiarist if you still have any respect for music or musicians! You were a major creative force in your career-- Please do not give any respect or credit to a man who has no respect for musicians' rights to their creations!

Please, Stevie, go to YouTube and search for "Timbaland Rip Off" and see what I'm talking about. The man outright steals other people's music. He's a plagiarist of the worst kind. He has NO creativity of his own, and I implore you, Stevie, to retain your reputation and the respect I've had for you these past 30-odd years by refusing to work with that lying sleaze.

I'm begging, here, Ms. Nicks. I'm begging as a fan who has almost everything you recorded. I'm begging as a fan since the 70s. I'm begging as a fan who has your Red Rocks concert on VHS and DVD. I'm begging as a fan who has enjoyed many of your songs as a soundtrack to my own life; Do Not Do This Thing.

You don't need him. You certainly don't need to associate with a known plagiarist. PLEASE do not do this!

The "Bevets of Timbaland Articles"???

Kind of a weird thing to be...

Nah, that just doesn't work. He's attacking Timbaland and not defending him. You'll have to come up with a Magic: The Gathering type thing.

ZeroCorpse: The "Bevets of Timbaland Articles"???

Just sayin'. I think spreading the type of general madness that TMLO does is far more effective. You could 'shop Timbaland with a sombrero. Or maybe add text that says, "I iz in ur musik, stealin ur beatz."

If people want to stop Timbaland, it is possible. The label Underground Resistance stopped Sony from unauthorized copying and distributing a version of one of their songs back in the day through a letter campaign and getting various stars to support their cause.

This was one label, without the help of the internet, bringing down a corporation.

I'm just not sure why Timbaland is such a horrific evil. No one even talks about him in the music discussions I follow. He's not even regarded, because people are crazy about people like Blockhead, RJD2, Amon Tobin, and other awesome producers who rock.

No, no, that's Lil' Jon. He sits in the background and says "YEAH!"

Timbaland just says a few words about his phat beatz and shuts up.

Ya, they totally brought down Sony/BMG. LOLZ. But thanks for the RJD2 reminder. I just got a turntable for the first time in a few years and I'm on the lookout for hip-hop instrumentals i can bus my rimes 2.

Well, they didn't topple the empire, so to speak. They did what they set out to do though.

news flash, you tards -- Chris Cornell doesn't make music for you and doesn't give a f*ck what you think.

/stop draggin my heart around

MikoSquiz 2009-04-09 10:11:33 AM
Nicks is much better suited for Timbaland than Cornell was, since she's already a radio-friendly lightweight pop kinda gal. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
