The NHL is much more entertaining with heroes & villains. BUT if Avery is going to continue to start shiat he'd better start backing it up with his fists. This innocent "what'd i do?" act he does is getting old quick.

I am in NY now so I watch alot of Rangers games. More guys end up in the box for hitting Avery without casue than there should be. Im not saying the hatred isnt for good reason but Avery seems to get PP's for his team as a result of the leagues hatred of him.

As a Rangers fan, I'm embarrassed by stuff like this.

It was unsportsmanlike conduct. Also, it doesn't farking matter where the goalie was. What matters is Avery hit the goalie in the head with his stick. He would've still gotten a penalty had he hit anyone else.

Then, of course, the little shiat runs off and turtles and lets a a teammate get punched in the face for him.

Ha. That was hilarious. I'm not a fan of Avery, and he definitely has some screws loose, but I think he's just awesome at messing with people.

Look, the season is almost over and the Rangers are barely holding on to a playoff spot. Every game matters. If Avery gets a penalty or gets his ass kicked, who cares? A little gesture like this can get into a goalie's head and screw him up for the rest of the game. I know the Rangers didn't win the game, but it was worth a shot to hang on to the playoff spot.

Avery is a huge douche and definitely deserved a penalty...but Thomas throwing a punch with his blocker to someone's face is even worse.

The guys on TSN were just discussing this during the intermission of the Canucks/Avalanche game, and as much as it disgusts me to do so I have to agree with Matthew Barnaby that this is being blown out of proportion because it's Avery. I'm no Avery fan, but that was far from a slash. Underhanded? Yeah, a bit. But the unsportsmanlike penalty was about as much as he deserved for this particular act.

Oh, and to buddy who wants to see Crosby clean Avery's clock: it won't happen unless Avery hits one of Crosby's teammates with a legal bodycheck, like the one Keith Ballard put on Malkin this afternoon. Have you ever actually been to a hockey game? During commercial breaks, guys come out with buckets and shovels to clear the "snow" out of the crease. That's why Thomas was out by the hash marks.

Avery is a cowardly little bag of shiat... he bolted as soon as he saw Thomas coming for him. If he actually had anything for his cup to protect, he'd have turned around and taken on Thomas, instead of letting his teammate do it for him.
