I love Tom Waits, but the headline made me think of this. (new window)

Holy hell. This is the anniversary of my buddy's death, and not only did he love Tom in general but he ADORED this song in particular.

The person that gave this a greenlight - consider yourself 'visited' by Sam.

Awesome. They play this on one of my local radio stations from time to time. (^)

He's not building a playground for the children, that's for sure.

This is the reason I wished they'd release his VH1 Storytellers on DVD.

I love Tom Waits.....so much that I actually considered paying $300 for a ticket to his last tour after they sold out in 10 seconds.

Then I realized that they could bring Johnny Cash back from the dead for a one-time performance and I still couldn't justify paying $300 to see him.

I've now accepted that I will never see Tom Waits live.

I dunno. Zombie Johnny Cash would be a pretty unique concert, especially since some of of his songs are about death, apocalypse, dying, and that sort of thing.

I mean, can you imagine Zombie Johnny Cash singing, "The Man Comes Around", rotting there on stage? It would be chilling and sort of awesome.

I prefer to think that Zombie Cash would rework "One Piece at a Time" to describe his body parts falling off during the song.

"Five feet high and rising" , "Flesh & blood" and "Blistered" would also have to be included in his zombie set list

Meh. Don't know, don't care...

If Tom Waits can be popular, Crispin Glover should be HUGE...

I've heard audio bootlegs, but never seen video. The stories themselves are worth it alone.

Jesus Gonna Be Here (new window)

Downtown Train (new window)

Ol' 55 (new window)

There are a few others if you search around a bit. I'm reasonably sure these three are from the '99 VH1 show, although I might be wrong.

HTH
