I for one am shocked, just shocked at this news.

Weird that I'm not scared at all and yet I live on the West Coast. Wonder why that is. Hmmm.

Drat! The Japs promised they would shoot it down.

/wonder what Obama's promised "consequences" will be? Hillary could wear a look-alike of Kim's pantsuit.

FTA: North Korea has said it intends to send a communications satellite into space on board a multistage rocket sometime over the next several days

That's one damn slow-ass rocket.

We'll see. The bird's already flown and there's yet to be a single smoking crater, so I'm not banking on anything outside of another strongly worded UN resolution that Kim Jong-Il is a doodyhead and he should quit being such a putz.

Nuke 'em back into the stone age!!! Owait, the majority of the country is already there.

I'm more scared in a "It's rumored that Kim Jong-Il is increasily sicker and will die soon, so he might decide that he, in fact, wants to set the whole world on fire".

Then again, LARPing Fallout 3 might not be such a bad fate either...

Kim is just waving his prick before he dies.

Japan alone could crush NK with very little help from us.

Japan has giant robots that turn into vehicles named Megatron and Optimus Prime. Of course they could take N. Korea on! My only question is do the robots cause seizures?

Assuming the Chinese simply watch the show. Last time around, they decided not to, and we all see how that turned out.

The really balls-climb-up-in-your-chest-cavity scary thought is that the Russians (or one of the break-away states) might still have nukes that auto-launch on the characteristic double flash, so no matter who slings one, we all get our comeuppance.

And the downside to a nuclear holocaust that wipes out 90% of the global population is that there are pretty good odds you'll be in that 90%. That, and the scarcity of bananas.

If it gets past California, it'll wind up crashing in Texas somewhere, or Florida. So we may need to get the Florida tag on standby.

So where is it now? CNN's article is not helpful at all. How/when will we know if it is heading into space or towards a land target?

See, I bet that if that's the case, one of the safest places in the world to be is most likely Africa or South America. Otherwise, you're pretty farked.

Without incident? It was the incident you idiots.

MSNBC is reporting:

The Japanese government said the rocket flew over Japan and its second booster stage had splashed down in the Pacific Ocean, indicating the launch had been successful.

so, that claims that it splashed into the ocean already

I'm not up to speed on my fallout dispersal patterns, but I'm guessing Caribbean islands, possibly somewhere in Polynesia.

Pre-emptively getting your body used to radiation and toxic products so you stand better chances of survival. Clever. I like it.

Was this supposed to be a test launch? The North Koreans said it was to launch a communication satellite "Kwangmyongsong-2".

The US, Japan, South Korea think its BS and just really to test an ICBM and not for launching into space. The rocket ends up in the Pacific. The article isnt very clear. Either the rocket ended up in the drink because of 3 options: 1) it was a failure and there there really was a satellite onboard and the rocket never made it to space; 2) its a test rocket for a later satellite launch; 3) test was successful and it's a model for later use to deliver a warhead at some point.

Did any of you farkers have an answer or a better article that explains all this?
