Republicans are wrong about a lot of things, but being wrong about a lot of things doesn't necessarily make you a republican.

Considering that she lost those legs in Iraq, and that she has been director of the Illinois dept of Veterans affairs, she just might have some knowledge of Veterans Affairs....

On the other hand, the Repubes probably want a horse rancher to have that job.

Has the shoe ever been on the other foot? I mean have the Dems ever held up nominees, judges?

Ican't imagine that. It was probably smooth sailing during previous administrations....

netcentric: Ican't imagine that. It was probably smooth sailing during previous administrations....

A careful examination would reveal that the Repubes hold up many more nominations than the Dems ever have done. The Repubes whaargarbl about Robert Bork, and claim that justifies/justified their holding up of literally hundreds of nominations that Clinton and Obama have had. Yet when shrub was in office, almost all of his nominations sailed through.

The problem wasn't with the Republicans, America just wasn't ready to fully impliment the Neocon agenda and protect our Homeland from the threat of Political Islam.

We were so close to being able to generate the mass dispora necessary to depopulate Iraq, and rebuild it in our image. An American Dubai, casinos and hotels smack in the center of the cradle of civiliziation. A launching point into conquering the Middle East as a whole (minus Israel)

More importantly, we must be willing to let your soldiers give their lives to expand the borders of Israel though Syria and Jordan, to fulfill the promice of Greater Israel.

In the end, Mass Xenophobia, Ultra-Jingoism and conflicting national loyalties are paramont to securing American predominance on the world stage.

Enhanced Interegation, Extraordinary Rendition and wire-tappings are just some of the tools necessary for us to defend the realm.

Only by sacraficing the percieved "gifts" of liberty, and secceding a large amount of power to our Executive Branch, are we able to errect the intrusive Tortureocracy dreamt by our founding fathers.

she was appointed by Blago, she is tainted. If she had a platform other than she lost 2 legs in Iraq, she may have won Hyde's old seat. Her resume is impressive from a private sector perspective. If they had playe dthat up in addition to being a n injured vet, she'd be my represnetative in IL 06...thankfully they didn't and Duckorth is not.

How you can take proof positive that Republicans nominate bipartisans and Democrats nominate partisan hacks and switch it around is beyond me.

generaltimmy: she was appointed by Blago, she is tainted.

So, being a successful officer in the United States Army/Army Reserve/Army National Guard, actually serving in combat, seeing the inside of Walter Reed from the point of view nobody in their right minds wants to see it, getting a Masters degree, (her phd work interrupted by combat service) and serving as a staff supervisor for Rotary International, founding and running her own charitable organization (Intrepid Foundation) makes her tainted?

I guess letting people stand on their own merits really isn't a neocon thing to do. If only she had raised horses, instead of piloting Black Hawks....

Heckuva job there, Brownie...And the SEC, they've been really on the ball, and don't forget the most important questions to answer when you want to be a US Attorney "[W]hat is it about George W. Bush that makes you want to serve him? Aside from the President, give us an example of someone currently or recently in public service who you admire."

Yup. Bipartisan all the way...

I can't believe they are delaying Tammy Duckworth. Did they have to draw straws for that one? The disabled vet community is a bunch of cranky farks, he's going to get his head ripped off for this.

How could you possibly see that as a winning strategy?

Yeah, after Scalia I think we learned not to trust conservative Judicial nominees. It seems they abandon all their principles whenever the GOP says "boo." These judges make vastly important decisions over our rights, and we don't want to lose them.

Can you supply any relevant criticism of her, or are you just going to say "The democrats did it for no reason!" when really you just have trouble understanding our reasons.

Plus, she's only up for the farking assistant Secretary slot. General Eric Shinseki (U.S. Army retired) already has the top slot.

If he doesn't have a problem with her, I sure as hell don't.

I guess you were too busy to read the rest of what I typed. The blago taint was partial spin. She was an easy pick for Blago as her story was great and resume was impressive.
Even though she did not live in the district in which she ran, she nearly won.

But if you want to make beleive that if she was appointed to a State Cabinet position or worked for...Tom Delay, you wouldn't raise hell, you are a liar.

To be honest, Think Progress has generally been more honest than the network that said we were building trains from Disneyland to whorehouses.

The problem isn't that Fox News is biased. The problem is its lack of integrity.

Um... They don't need republicans as rthey have amajority already. It would probably work better to put forth people to serve at the treasury as they can't seem to get a nomine even named. When the republicans hold something up when they are in the minority by a ton the dems must be pussies or they need to blame someone for incompetance.

generaltimmy: I guess you were too busy to read the rest of what I typed.

I read the whole thing. Allow me to repeat it for you:

she was appointed by Blago, she is tainted.
Your Statement: "Flawed because she was appointed by a crook."
Question: is there any other kind of appointment in Illinois politics?
If she had a platform other than she lost 2 legs in Iraq, she may have won Hyde's old seat.

Your statement: "Her only asset is her lack of legs"

Her resume is impressive from a private sector perspective.
Your Statement: Almost praise
If they had playe dthat up in addition to being a n injured vet, she'd be my represnetative in IL 06...thankfully they didn't and Duckorth is not.

Your Statement: "I'm glad they didn't campaign better because I think she is tainted".

BTW, you might want to use Firefox to type your posts, as the spelling mistakes can be embarrassing.

But if you want to make beleive that if she was appointed to a State Cabinet position or worked for...Tom Delay, you wouldn't raise hell, you are a liar.

Where did I say that she worked for Tom Delay? I was slapping your post because it was a complete implication that she is an empty suit and completely unqualified for anything.

If there is anything that pisses me off is the freeer/neocon attitude that it is somehow patriotic to send people to die, but unpatriotic to actually volunteer yourself, and that it is anti-American for those soldiers to come back from foreign wars in any condition but dead. And if you don't like your relatives dying in Iraq because of neocon lies, then you are somehow unpatriotic.

On the contrary, those who serve deserve respect. Those who return deserve our gratitude, and have earned the right to proper treatment for their injuries. That is what Tammy Duckworth brings to any Veteran Affairs post. That is why I wished that she was from WNY, and not Illinois so that I could have voted for her. That is why I think that any Republican who is holding up her appointment for any reason other than evidence of corruption on her part is a sniveling little coward who should hide in his little freeper hole instead of fouling air with his presence. The fact that he even mentions her name is an affront to every brave American who has ever been under fire.

RetardFury 2009-04-05 08:51:45 PM
Yeah, because all of Bush's appointees just sailed through without any of these problems?

Dems own the house and the Senate, and they could push these nominees through without any repulican support if they so desire. Asking for answers to tedious "gotcha" questions is just how the game is played ~ and the Dems played this game with relish when Bush was President. Get used to it Kos kiddies: You won, now you have to learn to act like adults in the face of the same sort of BS your side dealt out during the Bush years.

I'm not talking about bias, I'm talking about honesty. Fox has none at all. I've not seen any problems with that from Think Progress.
