I guess it does say something when more of your people listen and trust these satire shows than actual news sources.

Yeesh, I'd hate to live like that.

But are you going to let us keep him?

I think not - which is why we still hate you.

It's like taking your kid to the kennels, letting him pick out a puppy he likes, letting him play with it, finally bonding then you say "HaHa, just kidding, no puppy for you!"

You don't get the jokes on the satire shows unless you keep up with the actual news. The shows are only 18-20 minutes once stripped of commercials, not exactly conducive to elaborate set-ups and background info. The people who watch seem to generally be those who actually keep up with world events, and enjoy seeing how they will be lambasted.

Ok, I watch TDS and Colbert, but I think we're greenlighting a few too many Comedy Central links... This isn't the show's best anyway.

Really? I think the show killed last week. One of the best weeks in TDS history. The Reconciliation bit, the queen is poisonous, the Budget interview, "Redefinition Accomplished," this.

"No. It was a BRICK Jon!"

Heh, indeed. I was in fits from that John Oliver segment a few days ago about the 'rebranding' of the War on Terror.

Just because it's on Comedy Central doesn't change the fact that occasionally TDS shows real unaltered clips of real events I haven't seen on "legitimate" news shows. It's not like they make shiat up. In that regard I'd put TDS ahead of Fox News.

Not only are the shows only 18-20 minutes 7-10 minutes is normally taken up by an interview. I can't imagine anyone who doesn't keep up with the news likes that show very much.

Oh, don't get me wrong, the show was amazing last week. Colbert has been on a roll too, although with Glenn Beck on the loose, these guys are going to have infinite grade A ammo, so they can't really lose. This segment was funny, but not nearly as good as they've been this week.

And what about the survey done a few years back where people simply admitted they depend on TDS for news/humour and don't watch msm news broadcasts? I wouldn't be surprised if that demographic has actually broadened since.

Yah that's the thing though. Nobody does live like that. If you don't follow the news from other sources you wouldn't understand most of the stuff on TDS.

Not to mention viewers of TDS are far more informed than people who use cable news channels or talk radio as their primary news source.

This (new window) is the most accurate description of surveys I've ever seen and it is another comedy show. It reminds me of when I used to work on them while in college.

Yes, the fact that he is successfully negotiating with World leaders on a number of fronts (economy, Afghanistan, Guantanamo) is completely outweighed by riots by attention-whoring, dysfunctional farkwits who would find reason to protest a bacon and titties parade.

Seriously, Europe doesn't care about the Iraqis or Afghanis. They don't care about blacks in New Orleans. They don't care about senselessly murdered immigrants about to become US citizens.

Although politically biased it is a form of satire we understand and appreciate. Most of the expressed views are also shared by us.

They want him to socialize our healthcare so that their economies are more competitive with ours. You don;t think europeans actually care about the American lower class, do you?

Stop being so obtuse, of course he wanted them to spend money and they are going to send 1.3 trillion to the IMF, they don't give a rat's ass about our health care, they are doing fine on their own. There is no mass exodus of people leaving Denmark or Sweden heading over here to take advantage of our "superior health care system." There isn't a single European who will leave their country to deal with our HMO's. Obama isn't even near close to a socialist. I lived in a socialistic state for six years, you don't know what the fark you are talking about. This stupid talking point from right wing lunatics is why your voice is ridiculed and marginalized to a region.

Have fun living in a majority in Oklahoma and Arkansas right wingers, I'm guzzling a six pack watching you asshats implode.

It's not a mass exodus because it's only the very rich that come over here for (usually specialist) medical care, and they don't deal with HMOs because they can front the cash. In terms of quality we still are superior in various areas in absolute terms, it just sometimes requires that cost not be an object.

But, no, poor people aren't flying 30,000 miles to use their nonexistent US insurance to try to pay lots of money for something just because what's down the street and free isn't as good, no. That would be stupid, and people are stupid with surprisingly low frequency when their money's involved.

I'm assuming that you refer to the Alaska Permanent Dividend Fund, which has been a part of Alaska since 1976. I'm also assuming that you are referring to Palin's efforts to increase the amount of money sent to citizens.

Now, when the State of Alaska actually controls the production of the oil and such as, THEN they might be socialist. Until then, all they can be claimed as being is shareholders receiving a dividend payment. It just so happens that each and every resident of Alaska is a shareholder.

/In case this was tl;dr, Alaska's Perm Div Fund is not socialism any more than Pres. Obama is.
