What about the female Marines? I'm sure there's a couple that would enjoy this, but I would think the majority would be bored by some bikini clad pageant winner.

Good on these ladies -- Guantanamo can be a rough place will all the weather and the beaches. Nothing like a cute lady to take the edge off a day of interrogations. USO visits like this always improved morale when I was in the Core.

How 'bout some motorboating?

Bestbank Tiger: These unnamed critics have gone full retard.

Though the visit did violate the Geneva Convention.

However, we've decided that doesn't apply because they're not really prisoners. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Cool, the USO goes where the troops are, not just where its popular to have troops.

Magorn 2009-04-04 12:50:48 PM
alright everyone time for a quick geography lesson:

Guantanamo Bay Cuba: a perfectly ordinary Marine/Navy base that is almost 100 years old just happens to be located in country that is openly hostile to us.

Camp X-Ray: a detention facility built AT Guantanamo Bay by W to house whomever he decided qualified as an "illegal enemy combatant" home to both a military and CIA interrogation operation both of which have used methods that violate the UCMJ, The Geneva Convention and US Law.

obamadidcoke 2009-04-04 12:50:54 PM
No, those were POW's. These are terrorist scum captured fighting Americans.

depmode98 2009-04-04 12:52:00 PM
You entertain people in the military torture base you have, no the military base you might want or wish to have at a later time.

One has absolutely nothing to do with the other. Guantanamo Bay was a base before we had a prison there and will be a base afterwards. The girls weren't there to be entertained by the prisoners, as your post would have it seem, they were there to entertain all of the troops stationed at Gitmo.

Not necessarily. They'll pick up pretty much anybody accused of being a terrorist, often leaving a wad of cash with the accuser. Ask yourself: Would you call your asshole neighbor a terrorist for $5,000?

Hi, I wasn't there but I know that whatever they did was horrible, horrible to the prisoners who are being horribly abused there, or so I have heard from unconfirmed sources who haven't been there either but have heard stories. And some of the prisoners say really bad stuff has happened to them, and they would never lie, praise Allah, although actually Allah would encourage their lying as long as it was to harm the infidels. And so the beauty queens should not have been abusing the prisoners, even though all they actually did was entertain our troops, which is a good thing except GUANTANAMO!!1!one!!!

dkimball 2009-04-04 01:10:42 PM
I think those competitions should be like any other sport...no enhancements. No makeup, no prep-h for wrinkles, no orange tanning...etc.

That pic of Miss USA is just reeediculous with how much makeup she has on. If she took it off, you probably wouldn't recognize her in a crowd.

There are girls with natural beauty who just *POP* out of a crowd when you see them. They don't need makeup for that.

Anyway, back to the story. There is no reason anyone should be visiting Gitmo...period.

Ima4nic8or 2009-04-04 01:12:32 PM
How can anybody have an issue with this? Don't our troops who are sacrificing so much for our contry deserve some entertainment? Who do you care more about? A bunch of terrorists or our service men? So what if miss universe got to look at a few terrorist scum. If anything the prisoners were probably thrilled, and dont deserve the view they got. I know if I were locked in a prison and got to see a hot chick walk by I would be thrilled since it would supply my jack off fantasies for the next month or so.

The whole point to building camp X-Ray outside of the USA was so they could circumvent the geneva Conventions.

Incorrect, the camp was built in Guantanamo Bay so as to not be bound by federal law. The Geneva Convention applies to our armed forces everywhere. Furthermore, the DoJ put forth the claim that as the individuals at Camp X-Ray were enemy combatants and not prisoners of war, the Third Geneva Convention didn't apply to them anyway.

Except for the fact these inspections are done without prior notice of the staff, asshat. How do you think we've found out about the few cases of actual misconduct? The prisoners at Gitmo by any reasonable litmus are treated better than tax cheats in this country.

I'm not saying that the situation is black or white (right or wrong) but shiat has gone down there that has hurt our country more than helped it. The intentions of most of the people who work there are most likely to treat the prisoners well. But that doesn't mean violations of international treaties (e.g., the Geneva Convention) didn't happen. I buy Holder's recent assessment of Gitmo, but that doesn't refute the stories of what has happened in the past.

I'll agree to what you are saying, but these excessses are isolated incidents that are played up in the media, not systemic abuses like so many libtards want to believe. I've seen how the media treat the military first hand and it is despicable. When that is done in a way that causes enough public dissent t influence policy in a dangerous way it is worse, and yes closing Gitmo down will pose dangers to the U.S. in the long term.

Yeah we need to shut down Gitmo. I mean, did you see when the Marines force the captive to read statements which are in contradiction to their religion and the other tape where they cut off the guy's head? Harsh stuff. They should definitely be shut down...

Oh wait, that was them, not us. Hmmmm....

You mean all we did was detain these enemy combatants who were fighting in violation of the Geneva convention (no uniforms, terrorist tactics, killing prisoners, etc...) Oh wait, some of the said we flushed a Koran down the toilette. (If I got caught by them and all they did was flush a Bible, I would be pretty relieved.)

Oh yeah, some detainees said they were mistreated. We should definately belive them over the marines. NOT.

Can you explain to my why we need Gitmo. I don't understand how closing it down will hurt the US in the long run. I don't see how it's a threat to national security to enter these prisoners into some sort of legal system (under the DOJ or military courts or whatever) where they can be charged. It seems to me it only serves as a symbol to the rest of the world that can be used to recruit militant extremists.
