This is my dog.

I guess if I have another cup of coffee there could end up being a resemblance.

Not true. If my dog looked like me it would be a bulldog, I do not own a bulldog.

Sometimes you might say with better than random chance that a person looks like the type of person who would own a particular breed of dog. That doesn't mean that they physically resemble one another. If this study showed me a white guy with a shaved head and a ghoti I'd go with a boxer. If it showed me a black guy wearing a wife beater, I'd figure a pit bull. I'd be wrong some of the time, but the test would appear to be conclusive for its purposes.

I used to see an old lady walking her little old dog, and her gray hair looked just like the gray dog's fluffy head and poofy ears.

But that's about the only person I've seen who strongly resembled their dog. Unless you're being very general and talking about looking old and grizzled.

I can confirm this. Here's my dog:

People's dogs look like them because they only have one or two and are naturally drawn to breeds that look 'cute' to them. We are naturally wired for our own babies to look 'cute' to us - so we look for puppies that match that instinct as best they can. So instead of having one dog that looks like you adopt a dozen on a 'oh you wandered here out of the woods? ok we'll feed you' case-by-case circumstance.

/dozen mutts on a farm in the country
//so far they all look like themselves and are just happy to be here

If i dogsit mom's dog, she knows I won't take her out as often as mom, so she waits. When she's with my mom, she bases it off of cues (when supper is, when mom gets home, etc) as well as trying to go out every hour or so because she knows mom will cave.

Amazing what training does for a dog.

\I can only imagine how impatient the dog will get when mom retires in three months and can go out whenever mom says so....

Wow, finally we have conclusive university study backed proof that this is true. All thanks to the Bath Spa University... Yeah this seems as legit as a white van with Free Candy written on it.

I want to get a Pembroke Welsh corgi eventually when I have enough space. I wonder what that says about me...

It says you're short, but gorgeous. [RIP Chrisp, good boy]

It appears I'm also relativelty short, mostly white with 1-2 black eye patches, I like to lick strangers, can't make out if I have a tail or a stump, squat to pee and going for a walk is better than food. I look great when I'm stalking crickets, magpies and cats. Oh, and I hate cats and small, white, curlyhaired, yappy dogs.

I am not so sure that anybody looks like our dogs here, but I KNOW they have similar personalities.

Our big dog, who "belongs" to my 17 yr old, case in point.
17 yr old son, Bright, Athletic, Anxious, Hyper, Moody, neurotic.
5.5 yr old dog Bright, Athletic, Anxious, Hyper, Moody, neurotic.

Actually, the physical resemblance is there to a point. Both fair haired and slender, but the dog doesn't have acne and the son doesn't need to shave that much yet. You compare (eyes covered to protect underaged identities):

I can kind of see it...I think my dog and I have some resemblances. There are pics in my profile, I'm too dumb to know how to post them (yet another common thread between me and my dog).

I look like that bald guy who's compared to a bulldog. No coinky-dink I would like a bulldog when I retire.

Tommy Moo: showed me a white guy with a shaved head and a ghoti

Read that as "a white guy with a shaved head and a fish" the first time around. Went WTF. Got it on the second try.

It's like one of those magic pictures--is it a lamp or two people talking? An old woman or a young woman? Once you see it one way, you can never see it the other way again.

I would say moreover that your choice of pet probably reflects your personality, just like your clothes and hair. Thus, you're likely to pick a dog that fits a style that you like that will often also be reflected in your appearance.

Thus a big body builder who keeps his hair short for easy upkeep will likely pick a dog with a muscular build and short hair as well, since he obviously values physical power and a low maintenance appearance.

No love for other MMOGs? Ultima Online should be included for the Bobs vs Freds alone, unless you're excluding death cults. Couldn't blame you, there are so few that aren't carbon copies...
