SpiderQueenDemon 2009-04-04 11:29:05 AM
I listened to it...and I played it backwards...

...and I don't get it. Are we meant to admire the early synths? Is it Alan Parsons' birthday? Is this a particularly Dadaist way of informing us that tornado season is heading for Kansas?

What in the thirty-five sweet goodbyes does it all mean?

That video makes me so high

It's not a great single, but it fits nicely between Breathe and Time, on the album.

What is this crap? And why should we care?

You younguns, with yer "rap" and "thrash metal", have never experienced quality music that wasnt written in a board meeting by a bunch of buisinessmen.

See, way back in the 1970s, people actually wrote their OWN music, and performed it live on stage. No tape backups, no lip sync, no dancing or pretty costumes. No vocal correction software, no autotuners. Just a bunch of dudes that spent every waking minuite of their existence trying to come up with that next new sound, ON THEIR OWN! And actually performing it themselves. Live, with real instruments.

Anyone born after the mid 80's really have rarely experienced that. Pink Floyd used to sell 100,000 tickets per show for a reason. Not because some software giant had access to block purchases of tickets before anyone else, but actual people waiting in line for hours, sometimes days to get tickets.

Just to see, played LIVE by REAL musicians, what they heard on the radio every day.

Philistine.

You need to read the history of Carol Kaye and others who actually played on those records.

I don't think for Floyd though.

or this with a little Van Morrison thrown in

For the Floyd purists, yes, I am fully aware that both are not REAL Pink Floyd, but they are great regardless

If you don't get this, listen to Pink Flyod's 'Wish you Were Here' album. Its only 5 songs, but sweet crazy Tom Cruise, is it ever good.

...and I agree Deathfrogg.

I'm aware of her, one of the finest musicians ever to come into the industry. She's sat more sessions that most of the New York or Chicago union folks. Real talent. She has refused to write for any of the new folks like Britney Spears or Hannah Montana. It is a waste of her time.
