Actually, that's one of the more recent arguments for keeping her. She can dissolve parliament, so if we ever get a Hitler or a Stalin, she has the theoretical power to prevent him opening up the death camps. If nothing else, the argument goes, such an act would stir people out of their apathy.

On the other hand, if she were ever to withhold Royal Assent in anything but an end-of-the-world scenario, I'd be leading the charge down the Mall.
