What's this "leaving" stuff? His arse left a long time ago

It's a pretty big arse. It takes time for all of it to vacate the city and make it all the way down to Palm Beach.

We're talking glacier time, here.

You guys are just jealous that Rush Limbaugh is smart enough to recognize a wise financial decision and has the means -- thanks to his millions of fans -- to act on that decision.

Yes, people, flight times and fuel costs from his Palm Beach mansion to Port-Au-Prince's most succulent boy prostitutes are HOURS shorter than flights from New York! Suck it, haters!

Not to be a hater, but Jon's parent company is in mighty rough shape and it'll be mighty awkward if Sumner Redstone relocates the Daily Show studios because of the state tax nut Viacom has to pay.

I wonder what ever happened to this measure from '02.

Watch the clip, Rush says he's got a condo and a studio in NYC, and that's since he's sick of the taxes, he's leaving.

Good riddance.

Yep, clearly NY doesn't need any extra tax revenue. Amiright?

I just love how this is portrayed as an outrage.

... to people who make over $500k.

So exactly how many people is that?

I'm guessing it ain't that many people. So what I want to know is, how long before all the people making less than that start channeling Paris crowds in the 1790's?

NY should have just taxed the bailouts. That $28,000 per US citizen would be more like $200 grand per New Yorker, which even at 1% would probably have paid off the budget for years.

Was watching that episode online last night, and I noticed that a Google search for the Daily Show highlights the date of September 3, 2008 as an especially relevant page on the site.

I checked why. Heh. I remember that. Still funny.

I don't demonize Limbaugh (I'm not a listener either) but I would LOVE to watch that. I think Stewart would hammer him, but I think Limbaugh would represent himself better than expected. It would be interesting to watch.

/I saw Cramer saying BUY BUY BUY yesterday, that guy never learns

To Cramer's credit, my roomy watches him every now and then (don't ask me why, she doesn't have any stocks) and he sounds to me like he's trying to have a different attitude since his epic beatdown by Stewart.

That, and it IS a great time to buy... assuming you're being careful about it, and buying companies who won't be folding any time in the next year or so until there's a reasonable expectation that things will have levelled off at least - if not maybe even started to recover.

Where do you find this "delusion" in anything that Stewart has ever said or done?

He's not.

Right. Because he's really funny and totally effective in making his points through a combination of reasoned analysis and brilliant wit, characteristics that were lacking in your pathetic strawman.

Stewart's ratings are not falling. He has real influence across a wide range of sectors, from highbrow to lowbrow. He's universally respected by other journalists, including some of his targets, except for a couple of sore losers.

Howard Beale was an angry loser who earned brief fame by going crazy. Glenn Beck is his latest incarnation. We'll see how long he lasts before he goes totally insane and his ratings collapse. Hopefully he will avoid Beale's fate.

Shows what you know: Sumner's farked his own pooch so badly that he's been no longer allowed anywhere near the daily decision making process for his empire. He's a wounded figurehead, and his kids are just waiting for him to die so they can straighten his mess out.

I like Stewart though I disagree with his politics, but the whole reaction to Limbaugh no longer doing business in NYC (especially by the Governor) is just another example of intellect being blinded by partisanship.

Him no longer doing business in that city *will* hurt it financially and not just due to his condo, but all the money he spent while he was there, on food, entertainment, travel etc...

Sounds like we are just a few steps away from slaughtering our political opponents instead of debating with them civilly.

Class Warfare? Didn't we outgrown being upset that somebody else got a bigger piece of cake, right around age 8?

AdolfOliverPanties [TotalFark] 2009-04-03 12:03:45 PM
Stewart is a comedian, and yet his show is one of a small handful that actually presents news intelligently and asks tough questions (along with the fart jokes and weird voices.)

And that really chaps the ass of Republicans.

What's even cooler is how TDS does go after the stupid things the current administration does, as evidenced by the Obama picture with "The Ever Spending Story" graphic from just a couple nights ago.

But to the Repubs, Stewart is a liberal partisan attacking Conservatives. Good times, good times.

I really don't resent the rich. I don't resent some guy who won the lucky sperm contest, I don't mind the guy who won the lottery, I definitely don't hold anything against the guy who worked his ass off to get to where he is.

People like Ken Lay at Enron, or the cowboys in AIG who made their money by twisting rules and hurting people in the process, they can go die in a window.

The rich are smarter than you think. Tax them too much and they will respond logically - moving is just one example of a reaction. How much is too much? We'll find out I'm sure.

Perhaps the govt should learn to do more with less, just like the rest of us.

First, "Will hurt"? Someone else will take his place. New York is a constantly moving and growing town. People will always want to be here. If Limbaugh leaves because he's - gasp- asked to pay a few more percent (I'm almost sure that 31% number is bullshyte), someone else will pay. They want to be in the greatest city in the world. If Rush isn't willing to pay like everyone else, fark him.

Second, more importantly, If we're so angry we want to kill him, who started this environment? The one where wives and children (The "White House dog" comment? The constant lying about Hillary?) of politicans are fair game? I'm pretty sure Rush had his own hands in that pot.

No one dislikes him because he makes money. Lots of rich people I admire and enjoy. I dislike him because he's a fat mouthed, lying blowhard who knows what he's selling is bullshyte but does it out of a lust of money, and I think at least in part, because he doesn't want to admit to himself he's gone too far.

To sum up, we won't miss him. Maybe he'll find a new home more ideologically comfort to him. Maybe he'd feel more at home in Saudi Arabia or in Singapore or down with the little boys in the Caribbean.

What happened to line-by-line? I'm not hearing much about how the govt is trying to be more efficient and productive - just tax increases.
