That guy spewed the least amount of BS I've seen on TV in a long time.

Peter Orszag is the answer to all my prayers. Praise Jesus.

It's pretty sad when an interview on the Daily Show yields more honest information about what's going on in the budget planning process than a week's worth of cable news.

And Orszag did a pretty good job of staying serious, on-point, and still not seeming like a stuffed shirt. Although that is a pretty unfortunate voice. A name like Orszag makes me think of earth-trampling Orcs storming out of Mordor to maim and destroy all in their path. I think this guy would cut himself on a pocket knife.

Awesome. This coupled with Stewart's interview with Cramer have really given me a lot of respect for TDS.

Lumpmoose [TotalFark] 2009-04-02 05:12:05 PM
And yet still way too short. Stewart should get an hour with the guy.

My question: Did Obama go over the budget "line by line" like he promised when campaigning?

I think he pretty much covered it. We are spending money now in order to save us money in the long run. This is the part that most Republicans seem to be unable or unwilling to understand.

The Daily Show has been great lately. It's been more critical of Obama than most everyone on MSNBC, mocking the hell out of the ridiculousness on the 24 hour networks, and pretty much calling everyone on their bullshiat.

Conservative critics have been proven completely wrong, Stewart is harder on Obama than most people on TV outside of Fox news, just as he was harder on Bush than most outside of MSNBC.

It must sting that the news found on CC is much more hard-hitting than that found on most other cable "news" channels. Try not to cry like a little biatch about it.

Big ol' bad of THIS.
What does it say about the cable news networks when Comedy Central, of all networks, is the single best source of detailed, accurate, relevant news. The cable news networks echo fewer and fewer of the same stories talking points, louder and louder.
More like "cablenewspeak" if you ask me.

/Oh, you didn't?
//Sorry.

someonelse 2009-04-02 05:31:16 PM
Good interview, but why hasn't Orszag's voice changed yet?

I especially liked Stewart's "so the difference between 'not socialism' and 'socialism' is 36%-39%??"

Stewart is legitimatley hard on Obama, calling him out on any true hypocrisy or B.S. The Fox Noise crowd is rabidly searching for any scrapling of a chance to make even non-issues into a story about the Communist regime of Obama. There is a strong difference.

That is part of the problem. The "real" news programs need to be improved otherwise CC will be the only news

Lord_Baull: b..b..but, Jon Stewart is a comedian, therefore the Daily Show can't be taken seriously.

The Daily Show shouldn't be taken seriously. The fact that it is better than most of the 24 hour network stuff just shows how completely you should disregard the 24 hour networks.

It's not that the Daily Show is so good at news, but that the 24 hours networks are so bad. The last thing the Daily Show wants is to be a serious news show, but they get shoved into that spot because almost no one else will take it.

Harder on Obama in an intelligent way. I mean, Fox is harder on Obama in the sense that it's screeching "ZOMG!!! SOCIALISM!!! STALINISM!!! WHY DO LIBTARDS HATE OUR FREEDUMBS???????"

But Stewart actually brings out the legitimate criticisms nobody else will.

I am sad for my country that a man who should be making fart jokes and funny faces runs the most informative program on television.

Yeah. Stewart makes better criticisms of Obama than most Republican politicians. Of course, he also did that during the campaign. And his jokes about democrats are usually better than the conservative's jokes about democrats.

The Daily Show, while damned informative, is not the best source for news. I put it up there in the top 5.
You want good news, read something. The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, The Economist. If you want REAL TV news, the only place I can direct you is PBS. News Hour with Jim Lehrer, Nightly Business Report, BBC News.
Here in San Diego I can get 2 hours of really great news. And really, that's all you need. And you don't even need cable to get it. You don't get the sensational, world colliding bullshiat. You want news and want to be entertained? Watch the Daily Show. You want news, watch PBS.

/Good interview Jon.
//Bill Moyers would have done better, but without the funny.

Comedy Central only allows people within the USA to watch their online content. So much for the internet being international in scope.

Are you trolling?

3/10. I mean, good on you for burying it with some reputable newspapers. But it just stands out too much.

WSJ is the Fox News of newspapers. It used to be reputable. Since Murdoch took it over, not so much.

Just think, when you see someone reading WSJ: that guy's a Fox News viewer.

Then laugh at him.

This was the case back in 2003 when the MSM didn't have the balls to challenge the Bush Administration's claims. You only got the real story from TDS for a while before the other networks discovered their testicles. Apparently it's happening again.

Peter Orszag was pretty straight up about what the Obama administration plans to do. Maybe you should actually watch the clip. The administration is being transparent. The MSM is running bullshiat, much of it right-wing, most of it off-point. Fox is just making idiotic noise.

Meanwhile John Stewart is asking tough, pertinent, fair questions. Which the administration is handling just fine.

I'm pretty far left. Very far left for America. Pre-Murdoch, even I respected WSJ, because even though I disagreed with its opinion page, I knew its reporting was always factual.

Today, I just laugh at it. It reported yesterday that Obama made a "gaff" by calling the UK "England." Can Murdoch's editorial staff not afford a thesaurus? I checked several. All of them listed "England" as a synonym for the United Kingdom.

Reporting that Obama committed a "gaff" by calling the UK "England," an accepted synonym for the UK, is pure editorial reporting. It was a transparent effort to embarass the administration over an incident WSJ's editorial staff was clearly ignorant about. It combined politics with news in exactly the same way that Fox News does.

Pre-Murdoch, WSJ was excellent. Now, it's an embarassment to the profession.
