??????????????

Look a-yonder comin'
Comin' down that railroad track
Hey, look a-yonder comin'
Comin' down that railroad track
It's the Orange Blossom Special
Bringin' my baby back

Well, I'm going down to Florida
And get some sand in my shoes
Or maybe Californy
And get some sand in my shoes
I'll ride that Orange Blossom Special
And lose these New York blues

"Say man, when you going back to Florida?"
"When am I goin' back to Florida? I don't know, don't reckon I ever will."
"Ain't you worried about getting your nourishment in New York?"
"Well, I don't care if I do-die-do-die-do-die-do-die."

Hey talk about a-ramblin'
She's the fastest train on the line
Talk about a-travellin'
She's the fastest train on the line
It's that Orange Blossom Special
Rollin' down the seaboard line

Woot, Alabama 3 is in on this. They're the biggest Johnny Cash fans you're likely to find on the sweet goddamn pretty motherfarkin' country acid house scene.

Hello, I'm Johnny Cash (new window)

My daddy left hizzome when I was three
And he didn't leave much to my moms and me
Just this old guitar, a bottle of gin and juice.
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me "Snoop."

Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk,
People be laughing when I'm trying to shoot hoops.
Some biatches would giggle while I'm smoking that grass
And I'd have to bust a cap off in they ass,
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Snoop."

Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean,
Out in the streets of the L.B.C.,
I'd roam from Compton to Long Beach and down to Crenshaw.
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the house parties and bars
And find that man and put a 9 in his jaw.

Well, it was C.P.T. in mid-July
Rolling my Impala, just getting high,
I thought I'd pull over and have myself a Forty.
In the alley behind a liquor sto',
Rolling some dice with a pimp and his ho',
Sat the dirty, bastard getting freaking with a shorty.

Yeah, Snoop seems to have lost his edge lately.
He's even playing on Hilton Head Island.
Which, if you know HHI, is fizzuckin' hizzilarious, dizzawg.

Snoop Dogg is hard at work on a Johnny Cash remix album

It just proves Snoop is out of gas and Johnny's kid has run out of stuff to release. If Johnny Cash were really interested in this sort of thing he had ample opportunity to do it while he was here.

Expectations are very low, but I will take a listen.

carmody 2009-04-02 05:59:00 PM
I liked Snoop's country tune (actually an Everlast cover). He seems to be a sincere fan of Johnny Cash and old-school country in general, and I applaud him for challenging his core audience to think outside the (beat) box.

/Still could suck big-time.

ubermensch 2009-04-02 08:00:34 PM
The vinyl version of this (no bonus tracks) has been out since late last year, and is/was available at some Swedish website.

I wonder if, when Snoop gives ol' Oney his, will it be a cap in Oney's ass instead of just a fist full of knuckles?

I already heard the Snoop Dogg remake of Walk the Line on KCRW. The novelty wore off quickly.

How many times does Snoop Dogg have to say his own name in a song? Guess I could see the silver lining and turn it into a drinking game.
