15 seconds....

Beyond the abysmal song itself, it doesn't help that the audio in the video is clipping all to hell. Or maybe that's the sound they're going for. Either way, horrible.

By the way, who the f*ck is Heidi Montag?

Loudness wars, mang. I blame the loudness wars.

Awesome quote, although the song wasn't distinguishably worse than 90% of the dreck played on mainstream radio.

I agree...that is pure pop crap. Worse than most...if that is possible.

/bleargh

this sounds no different from the pop-dance shiatcrap i sometimes hear on the pop/dance radio stations.... or on MuchMusic as a video or even MuchMoreMusic.

anybody else think it sounded kind of distorted, especially the 'beats' ?

i made it to 2 minutes.

Huh, another reason to avoid "pop" radio.

I'll go back to listening to some Skynyrd and Metallica now.

Kodiak Attack 2009-04-02 02:08:14 PM
Yeah, this is pretty much like everything else that's on the radio - chock full of meh.

I guarantee you that if you gave me a Playskool Magic Keyboard and an afternoon free, I could come up with something way better with my home setup.

/hah, they're only $13
//I'll go buy my own

If they'd just turn up the drums, keyboard and bass tracks a little more it'd totally drown out her "singing" with all the clipping.

Damn, that was awful.

This song will definitely save the record industry.

some generic plastic blonde bimbo. She was on some reality show, but I don't know which one.

Apart from the clipping, it sounds just like everything else on pop radio. What makes it so fantastically offensive?

On another note, I'd like to personally kick the ass of every self-righteous prick who pulls out the "not music" line on stuff like this.

Know a thing or two about making music with children's toys (clicky-pop goes to wiki-pop).

MmmBadEggs: Auto-Tune much?

Thanks for not calling it a vocoder.

I know it's something that only annoys studio geeks, and we probably make similar mistakes about things we don't fully get -- but still, it's nice to see when someone identifies this correctly.

/vocoding is fun
//auto-tune is not

AutoTune. The opiate of the people.

Eh, generic pop. Her voice isn't bad, it's just nothing special.

GibbyTheMole 2009-04-03 10:22:00 AM
Yeah, it sucks the mighty crank of Godzilla, but so does most everything else on the pop charts these days. Meh.

We're starting to wonder too.

I beg to differ - but only when it's used properly. This song has many more problems that autotune - it's the distorted, flat mix mostly. But it IS possible to autotune without it sounding rubbish, and it is possible to do it without anyone noticing. Problem is, at this point, the autotune sound is the point, not the tweak.
