I don't think we've ever had a fatass president, with the exception of Taft.

was there something amusing in that video that i missed?

damn, that headline was a little harsh for no apparent reason. brits aren't exactly known for being slim themselves.

What do you expect when going to a country that is just a little bigger than Oregon?

Ha, almost every headline involving the UK has something about bad dentistry or nanny state, and you guys get sniffy about one lardass comment.

logieal [TotalFark] 2009-04-01 11:57:24 AM
Psh. That's nothin. Try turning a Suburban with a 20ft trailer around on a 1 1/2 lane country road with a 4 ft ditch on each side, in the snow.

/Done it
//Never want to have to again

meh, i'm more sniffy about being tricked into watching a fairly innocuous 3 point turn.

The £250,000 Beast is equipped with rocket-propelled grenades, a night-vision camera and pump-action shotguns. Built from titanium, it is capapble of withstanding a chemical attack, and its 5 inch glass windows are rocket-proof.

Eh, I'm going to have to call bullshiat on that. Even the oldest RPG-7 warheads out there are rated at 260mm RHA, turning that thing into Swiss cheese. Some of the newer warheads would go through both sides of that thing and still have plenty of oomph left over.

Sounds like someone is just reading what the sales pamphlet claims.

it doesn't say it can withstand and rpg attack, just that it comes equipped with rpgs. it says it can withstand a chemical attack - i think that is a reference to it being sealed tight with an enclosed air system.

Those are some tiny-ass windows. You'd think the president would get a better view from his ride.

The roads in Italy are too small to handle thier huge tour busses.
But they drive on 'em everyday.....

See Sorrento, Amalfi

Get over it, you little Island off the coast of Europe, about the size of Oregon.

One of the few things I love about Ireland. When our former esteemed leader went for a drink in his local pub I could go right around the corner and see him sitting there in the quiet bar havining a pint with his overweight guards.
Not that I'd want to because he was a robbing bastard but still.

They need all-wheel steering on that rig.

We can rebuild it. We have the technology.

ZipSplat 2009-04-01 02:36:55 PM
Well, that was unremarkable.

Both the news organization and the subby can DIAF for that little bit of sensationalization of nothingness.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL countryside. I loved that area, but, yes, our bus hit the barricade on the side of the road at least once.

I'm pretty sure Obama's driver is an American. Lets hope he can handle roundabouts.

OK. So it's 75 inches wide, right? And it's got 5 inch thick windows?

Heck, I think the Toyota Corolla is more spacious.

Bad_Seed: roundabouts.

[googling]

The United States has those are around court houses and monuments. They're probably not as prolific in high traffic areas as Europe I imagine tho.

There's a roundabout just outside of my workplace.

It's an industrial park. No courthouses or monuments there.

Obama's driver regularly drives in DC. Anyone who has ever seen DC knows we have a LOT of traffic circles/"roundabouts".

The funny thing of course is that the UK's obesity and overweight rates are only slightly lower than than US's. And I think Germany actually has higher rates than either.

Go drop a roundabout on the M5 and see how your accident rate is. That's exactly what happened in Keene.

LewDux: Merkel's limousine

I though Merkel's car looked like this.

img23.imageshack.us

I wonder if the President's ride has the seats that can withstand a 9-G impact like the new helicopters. My friend who is an old NASA engineer says they are really helpful when it is time to identify the bodies.

Moray 2009-04-01 03:06:52 PM
So we paid to FLY OBAMA's LIMO to the UK. WTF did that cost US taxpayers? With our Taxes going up today I'm glad to see we have plenty of $$$ to give Obama the comfort of not using a UK limo- what do the royals drive around in for protection?

Change you can count on
