The more important question, where is buckethead now?

Is it just me, or did he sound kind of like Napoleon Dynamite?

Buckethead is a pretty awesome guitar player, and a world class flake.

I can't tell you how glad I was to see that Buckethead is a guy with a bucket on his head. This was the first time I've ever heard of him and I had no idea what to expect.

I remember back when Adam Ant was going to be interviewed on MTV, and my sister was so excited to see him. My grandmother was babysitting us, and when the interview started she said, "Oh, I thought it was going to be a man in an ant costume."

I was a little worried that if Buckethead just turned out to be some guy, I would be just as uncool as my grandmother.

Seriously, the most overrated guitar player of the past 30 years.

He played guitar on the latest GnR CD. I thought he was awesome. I always used to hate Buckethead, but now I am in awe.

Yeah, I wonder if he wears the bucket in the studio, seems like he would bump into things.

"Hey Buck, you knocked into the $10k microphone again! My ears!"

"Uh, well then I might apologize but I don't know if I talk or not"

/I guess the interview (DRTFA) will tell if he talks

I loved buckethead about 10 years ago. I had no idea he ever made it onto MTV or even made it slightly mainstream. Oh the power of wikipedia. And, now I know he's done 10 albums with Viggo Mortensen. Yes this Viggo Mortensen:

Mortensen is obviously a competent Musician if Buckethead hangs out with him

You obviously know nothing about guitar, and music.

better late then never, but i can assume this is a really old cclip. He is touring as we speak and melting faces as he goes.Derwood: Seriously, the most overrated guitar player of the past 30 years.

wow what a fun troll that would have been to play with. Thankfuly there is no denying his musical abilitya nd genious. Hurray for a bucket thread

Derwood 2009-03-30 10:42:58 AM
I've heard a ton of Buckethead. I own every Praxis CD. I've heard a lot of his solo stuff. I've seen the videos of him live. Technically, he's extremely accomplished, but his schtick is tired and his songs lack any feeling. I'm not criticizing in a vacuum here.

Zaltec 2009-03-30 12:23:17 PM
I had the luck to catch his second-ever solo show opening for Primus many moons ago, was some excellent music with a very entertaining show... been listening to him since he hooked up with Primus for the odd guest spot, but the solo show earned him a spot in my music collection

lots of eclectic instrumental stuff, but I prefer his stuff with vocals, his pure shred is a little much, like Satriani on acid

NoxNoctus 2009-03-30 12:27:35 PM
There's no denying his ability to play. Dude can shred.

I just have not heard a single thing he's done that sounds like it has an ounce of passion in it. I have the same beef with Petrucci. Guy's a guitar God, but its almost mechanical.

/Would rather have slightly imperfect, soul-filled music that does something to the mind other than attempt to melt it with sheer volumes of notes

hey nothing wrong with not liking a guy, but last i checked your opinon and feelings do not make him over rated. You may not dig his gimmic or how he plays, but that doesn't change the fact that he plays without emotion or feel. Talk to his fans, people that enjoy his work, they will disagree. So I would reccommend you sell all of your buckethead related items as we dont want any stupid fans hangging around.

/just because you are dumb and cant find the feel or emotion doesn't mean it isnt there
//it just means your dumb
///there is more to playing with feel then playing blues solos

this is true, but i think to play with 'feel' you have to be able to improvise, and buckethead is without question-terrible at improvising. good guitarist otherwise though.

Derwood: but his schtick is tired and his songs lack any feeling.

i dont mind his gimmick at all, he seems like a cool dude. but its not that his songs lack feeling so much as hes just not a good writer. he works better in a band where hes not writing anything. he releases WAY too much stuff for someone thats not a good writer to begin with. like steve vai.

Another Buckethead thread, another batch of farkers make asses of themselves.

The man has put out like 20 something albums, if you've only heard 2, you haven't even scratched at his body of work so just shut the hell up already.
