"At one point the man got out of his ATV and a sergeant Tasered him, but he got back in his ATV and drove off. The man struck a state police car and continued on. "

Must not have been a four wheeler, or atleast a nice one.

One of my fondest high school memories was going to my buddies wealthy grandparent's hunting camp. On one occasion, we drove our ATV's through some property they had just acquired to check for game trails and spots for tree stands. Night caught up with us and my friend decided the fastest way back was to cut up the land to the county road and head back that way. I asked him if this was a good idea, it being a two lane county road in bum fark Alabama with a 55 mph speed limit. He assured me it was a great idea, and not a big deal. Let's just say I found out the fun, insects in my helmet-less face way that a really nice four wheeler on pavement has no problem getting some serious speed on a two lane county road.

I've always wondered, electrical engineers, is it possible to rig something, that once penetrated by the taser prongs, sends a greater electrical pulse back through the wires, into the taser itself, thus causing major issues?

All you need is thick, conductive clothing and you're taser proof.

The darts are only about a centimeter or so long. They're weighted and barbed like a straightened-out fish hook, with the idea that they hit your shirt hard enough to drive them through the fabric and then they stick in your skin.

www.storesonlinepro.com

All you need is clothing thick enough that the points can't reach you (some are double-length these days), and conductive enough that the potential isn't going to "reach" for you.

Somebody could make good money with a line of leather jackets that have a conductive layer inside. Carbon fiber? Wear that over a couple of T-shirts and you should be OK.

"The man struck a state police car and continued on."--More like the cop cut him off so he hit the police cruser. Happened to me in Santa Cruz when I was in a hurry b/c my gf's relative had just got in the hospital.

Modified FTA: "The driver was finally arrested in ______ and charged with DWI and other offenses."

Just put the town name in the blank, and we've got ourselves a description for about 40% of the articles here on Fark.

Nice scenery though.

You're doing it wrong if the cops are even aware of you, let alone trying to chase you or tase you.

/Just because you never hear about The Very Smart Criminals, doesn't mean they don't walk among you.

The conductivity is going to be the most important factor. You need to give the electricity, which can jump through multiple inches of clothing into your skin, a more favorable route to travel.

A cool vehicle indeed, and thus one you might want to use while playing an SF RPG. Back in the early 80s, Traveller let you mix-and-match your science fiction from any sources you liked. Want to have Luke meet Vader aboard the Rodger Young? No problem...

"The man struck a state police car and continued on."--More like the cop cut him off so he hit the police cruser

Cops are hard on their cars because they know they can get them fixed for free. I saw a cop arriving during an arrest bust off his wheel trying to jump a curb. Took a nice digger into a well-maintained lawn.

The suspect got a laugh out of that one and the rest of us kind of cringed.

Good one, dude.

/could have just parked in the parking lot and walked the remaining 50 feet like the other cops.

And other brands yes, why I was wondering if this was a 4-wheeler or a utility vehicle.

I'm telling you there's a market niche here. You can buy tasers, and develop methods to defeat them.

/the question again is "WTF are you doing getting yourself in so much trouble?"

Let's see...

1977 Damnation Alley with Landmaster

1979 or '80 Traveller's JTAS issue 3 with ATV drawing

1986 Aliens with APC (designed by Syd Mead?):
i44.tinypic.com

1987 Battletech's Technical Readout 3026 with Wheeled APC drawing:
i41.tinypic.com

I'd say that the two game designs were each clearly, shall we say, "inspired" by the two films, but the two film designs seem different enough from one another to be unique.
