That girls vocal skills suck. Someone needs to dash her 13 or 14 year old dreams.

Well, to be fair, she does sing better than Axl Rose

What is it about FARK that makes people think being a dick is cool?

This, kiddies, is why you should always sit at the back of the class and keep your head down. Do not try anything. Unless you can be perfect and up to the high standards of people like baufan2005, it is best to stay with the herd and never put yourself out there for scrutiny. No one on the internet can then make fun of you for getting out there and just trying to have some fun.

Just live, eat, sleep, die, unknown and unaccomplished. Another nameless faceless cog in the wheel of anonymity and blank slates. Like baufan2005.

baufan2005 uses autotuner on his overproduced boyband/poptart/J-pop song sampled vocals.

I gotta admit, that was pretty cute.

Goddamnit. I counted six fauxhawks on those kids. If slash should have told them anything, it should have been to go all the way with something. Never half ass it or you end up looking like everybody else. It's cool as hell that he's jamming with the kids and that everyone there shows a great interest in music, but if you look around the room and everyone has the same look as you, maybe you need to push a little bit more. Make a real statement by rockin a real mohawk, don't keep it safe and in style. Slash didn't, and still doesn't.

/Hates fauxhawks
//hates most conformity
///but not all of it
////knows they're just kids

I thought she was pretty good. Takes pretty big ovaries to be willing to get in front of so many people and sing at that age.

THIS.

Jesus Christ, she's just a kid. Voice training is difficult. She'll get better. And when she does, she'll be able to say she sang "Sweet Child O' Mine" with Slash. She can use it a humorous aside on stage when she's singing beautifully for a rapt audience one day.

/She'll probably become a hottie, too.
//And baufan2005 will become an unemployed bricklayer.

I'm just glad that these kids are playing instruments and learning rock-n-roll songs instead of that rap bullshiat. The girl singer did ok, she just doesn't sing like a rock singer because she probably has been listening to top 40 style singers all her life.

//Slashes for Slash!

I wonder if slash told about his stories while in GnR, music is cool but it gives you a lot of free time to get into shenanigans. After reading his book Im convinced everyone in the business is on drugs and their peak creativity is usually during their 20s since almost every good song for them was written during that time.

Read his bio, great read if you like rock music.

In a certain sense it is, society is only as great as its artists, which means this next generation is farked.

A great society appreciates fine art even without understanding the concept.

Some of our 4th graders were doing Low Rider on the recorder this year. Thankfully have a music teacher who understands that, to today's kids, Rock n Roll is the equivalent of those lame folk songs and itsy bitsy spiders we learned as kids. It's what they and their parents grew up with. Oh, he's also looking to incorporate more jazz.

You need to read a little more history, artists preceded science and one of the greatest inventors was also an artist.

Art is a big part of every culture and in schools it gives kids an outlet.

NorCalLos 2009-03-30 02:49:44 PM
That was WAY better than the version on youtube of Slash playing that song with Fergie on vocals.

*eyeroll*

The parade of the self-congratulatory "enlightened".

No. You're just plain wrong. In the modern societal hierarchy of need, literacy and the ability to communicate orally and in writing are fundamental needs for survival. Basic arithmetic skills are a little above that, and additional language and math skills are essential to far more societally contributing roles than anything directly imparted through music education.

You can opine all you wish about how I'm missing the myriad ways in which music education helps one develop various mental and physical skills, and contributes to the betterment of society, and you'll be completely wrong, as I'm quite aware of those things (probably substantially more so than you are). Nevertheless, those things don't come close to competing in importance with literacy and arithmetic skills. Sorry.

I was expecting a headline regarding how they were probably more mature than Axl Rose and Scott Weiland, I leave disappointed
