I'm as Gentile as they come, and I'll buy my store out if I see any. Cane sugar soda tastes great, and I'm not always willing to shell out for Jones Soda.

Great stuff. I see those white bottle caps and I act like a junkie.

We were cool after He'Brew: Genesis Ale. This is mostly for extra credit.

Oh, yeah.

Best thing about McDonald's is that their coke tastes like Mexican coke.

I'm wanting some Passover Mountain Dew!!

Pepsi is going to be offering 'throwback' Mountain Dew at some point in the near future, sweetend with cane sugar. Hopefully it's so popular they leave it on the market.

I have never discovered this type of Coke anywhere around here, but I always hear about it and it's driving me nuts.

Surely there has to be one store that carries it in this damn town.

It usually depends on the demographics of your area. If you have a high Jewish population, it will be in every store, otherwise you may have to try smaller stores, or Kosher shops. You could also just ask customer service at the store you are shopping at if they will be getting any, or if they could get some delivered (or in some case find out who in the area IS selling it).

If the only place its available is a small kosher store prepare to pay out the nose.

But once Passover is over, you can usually find similar concoctions in Mexican groceries (or even a Costco or two), because they like to maintain the high quality of their sodas.

Isn't that like an oxymoron?

Not willingly. The way I heard it, God raped a Jew in her sleep and out came baby Jesus.

They had him repo'd and resold him to the Romans when the Apostles couldn't keep up the payments.

In April we should start seeing the sugar-sweetened Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback. So if you're a Pepsi drinker, brighter days are ahead.

Of course, they'll probably only start marketing it as 20 oz. bottles, but it should be out soon.

If Coke is smart, they'll watch Pepsi, figure out that people WANT a sugar-based cola, and start marketing their own again.

If Jesus hadn't died then there'd be no redemption, no resurrection, and his once inept disciples wouldn't have had the faith to spread the word as strongly as they did after witnessing the miracle. Follow that logic and you should be happy/thankful the Jews pushed for his killing. That is, unless Jesus wasn't meant to die in the cross and was supposed to be on earth for more than 3 years of ministry to teach us more lessons... but that is just blasphemy, right?

I always found it intriguing if not downright silly what each religion claims their particular deity "likes" or "dislikes" such petty things and judges your worthiness to enter his "paradise" on these nit-picking items.

One would think and all-powerful, all wise and all-compassionate master of the universe should not give a rat's ass what your drinks were sweetened with or other such minutiae that us lowly mortals invent.

paj 2009-03-29 01:48:13 PM
this is definitely not new. My aunt has been serving this every Passover for years now. delish.

Being Jewish is about being Jewish. Most jews I've ever known are close to agnostic but adhere to the customs because it's what you do to be jewish. And the laws aren't about receiving punishment or reward in the afterlife.

If coca-cola was smart, they would publish the a list of retailers that carry kosher coke. I live in Delaware and have no clue where I can find it at here, I really don't want to drive almost an hour to Cherry Hill.

Just got back from Mexico and Coke, Dr. Pepper, even Sprite tasted noticeably better because they all had sugar and not corn syrup in them. I'd pay the extra nickel or whatever to have cokes like they used to be.

Mexican soda is awesome, I spent a lot of time there. Did you try to Topo Chico Sangria? Best. Soda. Ever.

I used to wait all year when I was growing up for Passover Coke. It almost made up for the week of matzah.

Where can you find this regularly? It mentioned Costco and bodegas, but do the bottles always have a yellow top?

The Adirondack Naturals line of beverages has cane sugar and is available in a bunch of different flavors. Not sure if it can be bought outside the Northeast, though.

ruhemaus: In the end, the two decided to quietly get rid of the rest of their marijuana (not by selling it to a friend, since it was kitniyot, and not hametz, they explained), and give their home one more cleaning before the holiday.

Huh. I knew some cigarettes contain trace amounts of wheat and that's why you weren't supposed to have them. (but everybody did) I didn't know however that just the act of smoking something was seen as consumption just like eating. Wonder how they got rid of it.
