Poor Prince William, so cute but already loosing his hair. He's going to be bald pretty quick. And, though he's very handsome, he just doesn't have the face to pull baldness off. Poor thing.

I don't know but it isn't tolerance, otherwise Tony Blair would not have had to wait until after resigning as Prime Minister to convert to Catholicism.

Which is it, cause it could be either one?

The Ixians didn't force him to marry his sister.

By the way, I'm totally for the Catholic rule. Have you seen the Pope recently?

I agree, so the first thing they need to do first is dissolve the Royal Family shtick altogether.

Since when have royalty practiced monogamy? Sexual mores are for the bourgeois middle-classes.

How novel. Someone actually cares what that rich family does on a day to day basis. From what I understand, the Brits actually pay taxes that go to them. That's stupid.

Eh, it was more because of the conspiracy between the Tleilaxu, Spacing Guild, and Bene Gesserit than anything, and the newfound Atradies tradition of making sure you're not married to the person who knocks you up.

Y'know, that was the first thing I noticed, that his male pattern baldness is literally sneaking up behind him. I think he could pull off completely bald, like if he shaved it all. But the half bald look? Nah. There are very few men who can have half a head of hair and still look good.

If I every start losing my hair in droves, im just going to say fark it and take it all off.

Yes, it may be absurd... but it's a constitutional act, and changing it requires the consent of Her Majesty's Realms (not just the UK). It's not something easy to do - it'd be like adding another amendment to the US Constitution.

Fadhappy_Groovenbacher 2009-03-29 01:44:21 AM
It makes perfect sense. I'm not sure how universally the rules are applied, but when my sister married a Catholic, she wasn't forced to convert. She did, however, have to vow to raise any tots as Catholic. Now if this is Rome's 'compromise', then it's absolutely reasonable, isn't it? I mean, lil' Willy's kid would be Catholic and the head of the Church of England?????

No, no, no. Will not happen.

On the other hand, who gives a shiat?

America. Secular Republic. No kings. No state religion. God Bless it!!!!

As things stand now, there's nothing to stop him marrying a Catholic. He just has to give up his right to be king since being head of the Church of England is part of the deal. Is this fair? Of course not, but at least he has the choice. Who said that anything to do with the concept of royalty was about fairness, logic or merit?

This.

Seems a bit silly to argue that these laws are outdated when the monarchy itself is a relic long in need of "reform".

Actually, it's worse. The Salvation SS will throw you in the camps and have you gassed for miscegenation.

The problem does not arise from wedding someone of a different religion. The problem arises from the fact that the Monarch is the head of the Anglican Church. So even if the King or Queen is Anglican, if their spouse is Catholic, if the Monarch dies they will assume the throne. Having a Catholic become the head of the Anglican Church might cause a few schisms. Monarchies have become anachronistic, and they should be abolished, but as long as a country still wants to keep their monarchies they should abide by the rules that the monarchy has set forth. I can't imagine the rioting if the Catholics ever made a Mormon the Pope.
