No shiat to that. In 1988, an off-duty drunk cop hit me pulling out of a parking spot in Colorado and I couldn't even get a proper police report filed for the accident. His buddies showed up, took him away, and wrote it up as "the parking brake failed" so his insurance would be liable for the accident but he wouldn't get into trouble. They didn't even bother to fill me in on the scam, and every time I asked what the fark was going on they threatened to arrest me for "impeding an investigation". No one was investigating shiat.

Cops pretty much suck ass.

To be fair if it was, say one of your family members and such shenanigans worked for civilians, you'd do it too.

My friend Leo's dad was a cop. When his dad would borrow Leo's car, beer cans somehow mysteriously appeared under the driver's seat. It was never the good stuff, either. Usually, it was Hamm's, Goebel, or Schaeffer. You know, the kind of shiat beer cops confiscate from underage kids.

To my knowledge, he never tipped them up on the job, but that would have been tough since he was a mounted cop. You probably can't hide beer inside a horse if you care to drink it later.

I don't know about "entitlement" there, sweetie. It's hard to hate yourself so much and feel like you deserve to be drunk all the time, even if you say it is exactly your right to do it. It's a lot more just a complete inability to control it.

Because everyone gets to be a captain in the NYPD at 41 years old! In fact, it works a lot like buying a flag that was flown over the capitol building. Just before you retire, they give you captain bars for an hour along with your cake and a gold watch.

Fark_Guy_Rob 2009-03-29 11:07:00 AM
Why are people so stupid?

Cops ARE the law. The same laws that apply to regular people and criminals don't apply to cops. They ENFORCE those laws, at their discretion.

People who think cops are just regular people doing a job know nothing about law enforcement. You HAVE to be the best, of the best, of the best - both physically and mentally. Had these heroes not decided to enter a life of serving and protecting the community they would have been CEOs and/or doctors or possibly rocket scientists or something. The best, of the best, of the best.

A cop drives better than you ever will.
A cop has a better reaction time than you ever will.
A cop can handle his liquor better than you ever will.

Cops are better than you - the laws don't apply to them.

Oh please, being a police officer doesn't even register as a dangerous job. Last time I checked even a pizza delivery boy had a FAR more dangerous job than a cop. Cops are just high school grads whose life goal is to feel self-important and to never worry about speeding tickets again.

THIS.

Here are the stats I dug up.

Top 10 Most Dangerous Jobs in the world:

1. Alaskan Crab Fisherman
2. Logger
3. Truck Driver
4. Miner
5. Firefighter
6. Policeman
7. Armored Car Guard
8. Bomb Squad
9. Coast Guard Search & Rescue
10. Bodyguard

and Top 10 Most Dangerous Jobs in U.S.A.

1. Airplane pilot
2. Logger
3. Fisherman
4. Iron structure worker
5. Garbage collector
6. Farmer/rancher
7. Roofer
8. Electric lineman
9. Truck driver
10. Taxi driver/chauffeur

Police don't even get close to the top 10 in the US. A garbage collector in the US has a more dangerous job than a cop does.

I never said anyone did. I posted two separate things. One showing that some cops indeed do make a pension of $90,000, and a completely separate post with further info on what cops (in NYC) get. I never said those that retire after 20 years were of the highest rank.

/Nice job knocking down that strawman, though.

Firstly, dealing with 'the lowest common denominators of humanity' (BTW, nice way to refer to the public at large!) IS THE FARKING JOB. If they don't want to do it, they can change jobs. No one is forcing them to be cops.

Second, 'never know if they are going to be killed at any second' is complete bullcrap. It has been posted numerous times before that being a cop isn't even in the top 10 of dangerous jobs.

Lastly, as for me 'signing up', I wouldn't waste the time. I have no pathological need to control others, and quite frankly, they wouldn't accept me. You see, they have an upper limit on how smart you can be to be a cop (new window). And I'm well over it.
