My brown friend points out that, in fact, hoping that Obama's socialistic agenda fails doesn't have anything to do with being patriotism, its all about loving america folks. THis is the best, and america hater at his worst.

Anyone who suppoerts this man is going to hell for ever. I have medidtated about this and Jesus agrrees.

FTFA: He also took his shots at Obama. "I don't know about you, but this doesn't look like the Barack Obama we met on the campaign trail," Jindal said, per Roll Call. "I don't know about you, but I liked that guy a lot better."

I bet you liked Mount Redoubt a lot better too at the time.

Been a very long time since I've seen anything Muppet-related. I don't recall anything particularly special about how Muppets see. Or is this more of a strange "I see Muppets everywhere" deal?

Oooooooookaay...

Back to vaguely on-topic -- if GOP is to be competitive anytime soon, I don't think they'll achieve that by either marginalizing themselves into a small fanatical camp (fanatics only get one vote, after all) or by running people who've drastically shifted their self-proclaimed views and thus have somewhat questionable credibility (like Romney). Might be they have to spend some time in the wilderness building up party cadres and theories that pertain more to governing than how to take advantage of Dixiecrat-style biases...

I didn't get it. I watched that scene a couple times and "Kenneth-vision" didn't look any different from the way things normally look. Were there different versions?

Sweet Jesus, after eight years of shoving money into Iraq they now want to claim that "Democrats are the experts at wasting money". And this after a democratic president actually ended up with a budget surplus.

Jindal, sit down and shut up.

I think the rocks have something to do with that Redoubt volcano. I don't know about 30 of them, though. The volcano seems kinda big to toss out only 30 rocks. I'd expect more. Too bad no one is watching it. Those volcanos are damn sneaky.

Hastor 2009-03-29 02:58:02 AM
It's a pointless distinction. Saying "I want the president to fail" and "I want the president's policies to fail" are one and the same. If a presidents policies failed, it would inevitably lead to some aspect of the US failing through said policy. What he really means, of course, is "I wish the president would not enact these policies", which is identical to saying "I wish the president was a republican".

That's why it's so stupid. It's the very definition of a partisan divide...and don't give me that 'democrats wanted Bush to fail' nonsense. I cannot remember official members of the democratic party coming out to say that, and even if they did, they would still be partisan and wrong. The mere fact that they cannot identify that past mistakes, real or perceived, do not justify current and future mistakes is a sign of poor or nonexistent judgment.

RoyBatty 2009-03-29 03:22:02 AM
I am a democrat and proud liberal.

The President is NOT the Country.

It is (usually) okay to want the President's policies fail and still say you want the country to succeed.

Times when it is not terribly okay: country at war, country is in the middle of an enormous depression. At that point, you really should want the President's policies to succeed.

Example. I think Bush should have been impeached for invading Iraq and making the country less safer, and emboldening our enemies. Nevertheless, I wanted his policies to succeed in Iraq, I wanted the Awakening councils to work. I wanted the surge to work.

Even that success meant 8 more years of Rethuglicanism.

Because success in Iraq at that point was more vital to our own success.

Right now, the Obama-haters and Democrat haters probably should want Geithner/Summers/Obama's stimulus and bailout to work. Because the country is in a pretty farked up state right now and lots of people are hurting and if their plan fails, even more people will be hurting and badly.

So it's okay for Jindal and Rush to want the President to fail, but if they want to be known as "Loyal Opposition" and not just a bunch of crybaby Rethuglican farktards, they probably should be talking about how they think Geithner's plan is shiat, but they truly hope it works.

So you can judge the Democrat Party by what a few nutjobs in the woodworks say, but we can't? Cause I can find just has many people saying they want Obama to be assassinated, or that we should revolt.

We're not doing that. Instead we're judging the republican party on what the Republican leadership is saying and they are flat out coming out to say they want Obama to fail, in turn taking the country with it just so they can be in power again.

PoopStain: You did not for the past four years. You were not courteous, you were not intellectually honest, you were not truthful.

Neither was President Bush.

Obama has been president for how long? Little over two months. You just said we weren't courteous to bush after he was PRESIDENT FOR THREE TO FOUR YEARS! He had blown all the international good will we have after 9/11 started a war on cherry picked or just plain BS reasons by that point, signed the Patriot Act, and many other deeds.

How can you compare the democrats anger after 3-4 years to the Republicans after 2 months as if they were in the exact same situation?

You're also letting the troll put words in your mouth.

As if any Democrat actually got up on the Senate soapbox and intoned, with wagging finger, Bush's failure.

Like I said, this topic=ad nauseum.

We didn't have to actually "wish" any of the policies of the last 8 years to fail.

They failed just fine without our blessing.
