to be fair, I was driving the wrong way down the street one day to get through a green turn signal and a cop pulled me over.

I had a Ron Paul sticker on my car, a sign in my backseat, and the pocket constitution in my front seat. Also a SAS survival handbook and the Special Forces book on Geurilla Warfare and a box of .45 ACP ammunition in plain view on the floor of my passengers seat.

Damn cop actually gave me a warning. Fascist pig. Treat me like a terrorist and all for having Ron Paul stickers on my car.

I had a copy of that book years ago. It was actually very well written, and focused on actual survival situations and how to survive, not 'Survivalism'.

Yup.

And for the moran who said that only people with liberal stickers would get profiled in Missouri?

Dems in MISSOURI were threatening to use 'Truth Squads' (yeah, I know 'Truth Squads' from some of the biggest liars out there) to sue people who ran ads against Obama that the truthers 'felt' were wrong.

Good thing this shiat never came to pass.

For all the biatching about conservatives/Reps the liberals/Dems sure don't have their house in order, either.

Have you ever considered the ads were in fact untrue? Perhaps you can give us the ads that they were threatening to sue for. Most likely, they are ads saying Obama is Muslim or wasn't born in America, but in fact Indonesia.

If those are them, quit your biatching, those ads are libel.

A few years ago Cambridge, Mass. police officers got a memo saying Hispanics ate a lot of hot stuff in their diet and might be less sensitive to pepper spray. Somebody pointed out that the memo was basically telling cops to give an extra dose of pepper spray or an extra beatdown to brown skinned people who talk funny. The powers that be reacted much as they did in Missouri when the media heard.

Really? The left pulled dirty tricks? I remember the right getting mad when Palin was asked which publications she read? That's hardly a dirty trick though. Go ahead though, please tell us of the evil left's dirty tricks.

Well, the Democrats threatened to accuse people committing libel or slander with committing libel or slander, that was pretty underhanded.

They came strong with gotcha journalism like "What newspapers do you read?" and "Can you recite your memorized talking points clearly?", bastards there...

Oh, and the most heinous thing, Barack Obama specifically did not call Sarah Palin a pig, thus cleverly forcing the McCain/Palin campaign to make themselves look stupid by saying he did.

I went to the Campaign for Liberty conference in St. Louis last night to see Ron Paul speak. It definately a good time. The running joke for the whole night was that MIAC report. Most people were dumbfounded by the stupidity of the report rather than being offended, but no one there wanted to be associated with acts like the Oklahoma City bombing.

You could say that they were apPAULed by the remark.

Ok, people were told that outright lies would not be tolerated- This means that running around claiming he is a muslim doesn't fly. Nobody was charged. That's not underhanded- that is self defense. Why would that scare an honest person?

Asking Sarah Palin, a candidate with no prior vetting in the media, what newspaper she reads isn't an unfair question. It got silly when she refused to answer it. Had she simply rattled off a couple of publications- this would have been a non-issue. Her inability to answer a simply question like that off the cuff made her appear phony. This isn't anyone's fault but Palin's.

I also fail to see how not calling the vice-president a pig is underhanded. McCain-Palin's campaign decided to make the lipstick on a pig comment an issue. It wasn't substantive at all and the republicans decided to run with it. Looks like an error in judgment on their part.

McCain selected an unvetted and extremely weak choice for VP. He over-estimated the risk of the right wing in the party voting for a third party and under-estimated the value of appealing to the center.

After the poor pick, they spent the first while hiding her from the media in a deliberate effort to generate buzz about her. It worked. The media got intensely curious about this sequestered newcomer. The problem was that they were unable to satisfy the people's need for more info by only releasing what they felt like. This made the media go digging. This is not the left's fault. It was simply a bad gamble in a poorly managed campaign during a year where republicans needed a very well-managed campaign to overcome existing high negatives.

This wasn't a result of dirty tricks- just regular politics and bad choices.

The only problem with this is that she might have gotten confused and rattled off the name of one of the super kook newsletters that she actually does read, and this would have been a problem.

What's amazing is the lack of understanding of what kind of precedence this report actually is... retracted or not. It should never happen in this country. People who would write such a thing, much less support it, are nothing short of Communists.

What is scary is that so many here treat it like it's some kind of joke.

A policy of harassing/quashing opposition parties/ideologies would be despotism, not communism.

/A communist state can in fact be a relatively free and just state with ample liberty and prosperity
//it just has to be very small

mfaby: For all the biatching about conservatives/Reps the liberals/Dems sure don't have their house in order, either.

Both parties are arguing over whose ship is sinking faster.

The GOP's ship is currently in the lead because they aren't conservative anymore, nor have they been in decades. The party is basically a bunch of Democrats who are against abortion.

The Dems seem to think that because the GOP ship is sinking so fast that they have nothing to worry about. So they ignore their holes in their own ship.

Lewis Black had it right, "Republicans are a party with bad ideas and Democrats are a party with no ideas."

Example:
Bush: Stimulus and government spending.
Obama: More stimulus and government spending.

Both sides are going to keep attacking each other and doing little to do what needs to be done. It's all they can do, neither party has workable solutions so they have to point out how much the other guy sucks. This will continue until people stop voting based on an R or D after a candidates name.

If you're salesman and your sales strategy is badmouthing the competition, one has to question the value of your product.
