The National Debt was $11 trillion dollars when President Obama took office. This is the total debt since George Washington was President. In the next 10 years, based on President Obama's own projection, it will increase by another $10 trillion. Attaway to go, nearly doubling the total debt in 10 years. Welcome to the American peso. That gallon of milk will be over $20. Change? There ain't no stinking change.

No doubt it would be SO much better if we just kept doing what Republicans have been doing the last eight years.

This vase is BROKEN, and by OBAMA'S projection, it will be TWICE as BROKEN in 10 years! SHAME ON OBAMA!

/who cares who broke the vase, non-issue, nothing to see here, Who's Bush again? Where am I? Pancakes?

You do realize that Bush doubled the national debt, and he did it in only 8 years. So I guess Obama is doing better than him. Of course that's not hard to do.

If the GOP didn't pretend they were still the party of fiscal responsibility, all they'd have left is admitting to being the party of theocracy.

Fiscal responsibility to "conservatives" means starting a war and not carrying the cost on your books so that you can blame the next guy for it when he does account for the spending. Then some redneck twats can stand around and cheer and pat themselves on the back for being so clever about it.

Obama is increasing the national debt to keep the economy from tanking, and to fix the things that have been neglected for the last 30 years. It is unfortunate, but necessary. Bush however increased the national debt without accomplishing anything, except screwing up everything he touched.

You must be so proud.

Well, if running an apeshiat deficit was the answer, the economy never would have tanked...Oh wait...the deficit wasn't spent on the right things, like expanding every single facet of the federal government, right?

Man, talk about a ship that has long ago set sail. Anyone who argues that the Repubs would be doing a better job is, frankly just arguing to argue, and can't possibly believe their own arguments. Or they are just that blind to reality.

Listen, idiots.

We need to spend some money on THIS country for a while.

You knuckle dragging troglodytes had NOOOO problems when Bush created a "Department of Homeland Security" and wasted trillions of dollars fighting his farking Daddy issues in Iraq, so SHUT THE FARK UP when the president decides to spend some money on education, energy and health care for this country.

These are the people who fought against the renewed GI Bill. Why would you do that unless you hated veterans AND education?

Next up - Paris Hilton will lecture us here on the subject of chastity.

Seriously, after what your brand of ideas have led to in the last decade or so, at least have the decency to shut up for a while about a subject about which you understand NOTHING.

There is way too much personal responsibility in that statement. Then people would have to start focusing on local elections, state senates, their sheriffs and town supervisors, and OH MY, actually get involved in local civics.

You should know as well as I do that it's much easier to sit on the couch and shout "OBAMA SAVE US DERH BGAQR GERBLELBLEBLE".

The Republican plans simply weren't given time to succeed, how could they be expected to clean up the mess Clinton left them in just 8 short years ?

If we had a perfectly balanced budget (tax revenue exactly equal to government spending) the debt would double every 14 years on its own.

By far the largest component (about 70%) of that "new" $10 trillion in debt is just interest on the existing $11 trillion debt.

Just over 60 days in office for Obama and the GOP are having a meltdown.

Where was the concern in Feb '08 when Bush submitted his 2009 budget that included an almost $500 Billion deficit? This didn't include war costs. Add the $700 billion TARP bill and you have a Bush deficit going INTO 2009 of well over a trillion dollars. Crickets from the GOP UNITIL the day Obama takes office.

The 2009 fiscal year starts in Oct 2008.

The Why Not Guy [TotalFark] 2009-03-28 02:10:34 PM
So DIA is suddenly concerned about the expansion of the federal government. Too bad he was silent while his precious Bush administration grew federal spending by - what was it? - close to 50%.

Now we'll get to hear all about how he was really against that spending all along.

timmy_the_tooth [TotalFark] 2009-03-28 02:10:57 PM
Dancin_In_Anson: smaller government?

Easy! We'll just shiat-can the military! I mean everyone in America has guns already so if we get invaded we can easily defend ourselves.

Hey, I like this "less government" idea.
