Holy shiat, I thought it was satire from the first link, but this is real. This is something the GOP actually put out. And the great thing is you can replace "Republican Road to Recover" with "Magic" and it actually makes more sense.

Heh... nice. I can't look at their charts now without substituting the word "Magic". It does make sense.

timmy_the_tooth: doling out tax cuts to the needy, like middle class people who make over $5,000,000 a year.

i could change "stimulus plan" to "budget proposal", but i'm too lazy.

I like how even the usual Republican Defense Squad isn't touching this thread with a ten foot pole.

This is like Christmas! Only, a Christmas where the GOP is the Yule Log.

And it's ever so toasty :)

When did the wingnuts start using "neodems"? Is it a term that actually has a definition yet, or is there still some time to sneak a little bit of the funny in?

Hender [TotalFark] 2009-03-26 04:18:27 PM
Obdicut: That's seriously it? They don't have a real one hiding somewhere?

Have a fast and dirty blank, then.

Sneak in the funny. Plenty of time.

That's not a blank. It's the actual plan.

I like how on page 9 the "& lowers taxes" is in a pretty font - and LOWER than the rest of the copy! That must make it true!

Someone needs to make a "I am serious graph. This are serious budget" image.

Shouldn't it be "neolibs"? Or are they as bad at parody as they are at a counter-budget?

I'm not sure. They either are that bad, or someone is trolling them. See The link in Hender's earlier post about Cantor being embarassed.

CheetahOlivetti [TotalFark] 2009-03-26 04:25:13 PM
DamnYankees: It's like someone showed them a flowchart. Once. And only for a few seconds. (My editor Ann Friedman just walked into the room. "It looks like they're building a budget molecule.")

I just peed myself.

What was that? Republican obstructionists produce a pamphlet. Hey, that's great. Nice costly pamphlet you printed up. You going to work with us and try to fix things now? No... of course you're not. You're obstructionists and don't give a shiat about the betterment of the country. You're doing this for political reasons yet again...

Mark my words... here's how this will play out:

They give Obama a copy of their plan. Obama considers it and offers to incorporate the better ideas into the plan while rejecting the ones that don't fit. When 100% of the Republican ideas aren't accepted, Republicans will throw their hands in the air and scream bloody murder that they've been shut out of the process. Then they'll claim Obama isn't willing to work with them. Then they'll vote no on anything related to this, yet again putting party politics before the betterment of the country, and claim that Obama's plan will cause our country to collapse. They may even go so far as to complain about any provisions that he may have added by their suggestion.
---
Later on:
If the plan works and it does help to stimulate the economy and get us on the right track, Republicans will claim credit because of the provisions that were adopted by Obama that came from them.

If the plan doesn't work, they'll claim they were against it from the start and everything is Obama's fault.

Either way they're going to try and make Obama look bad, because that is the most important thing to them. Not making our country a better place to live, not improving our economy, not improving our standing on the world stage, and certainly not working together to get things done.

I'm pretty sure it will go down pretty much exactly as I described above... Sure, there could be some variance, but I think I've pretty much summed up the obvious plan they've put together.

The Republicans appear to be playing a version of chess where the goal is to get all your pieces taken as quickly as possible to win.

Meanwhile the real world is playing regular old chess where the goal is to strategically position your pieces to control the field of play and dominate your opponent... And the Republicans think they are winning.

There isn't a circle of hell hot enough to make up for getting that stuck in my head.
