Even in the 21st century this holds true.

There is a bit of difference between wearing an offensive T-shirt and killing unarmed civilians. Just because someone does one doesn't mean they do the other.

Do you think the author realizes that what he wrote might convince more people that some dubious may actually happened as opposed to answering critics?

I loved this line:

It is important to note that none of the testimony was about what the soldiers did themselves, but rather of what they heard or saw other soldiers do.

I am guessing if you committed war crimes you aren't running to the papers to talk about it. Where as if you witnessed war crimes you might both be willing to talk about it and be able to provide an accurate picture of what happened.

Deny, deny, deny. Keep your 'side' in the press, and rely on the press trying not to appear judgemental (and thus presenting your view with equal weight). Keep it up until the press moves on. This isn't new.

It was Yom Kippur, 2000. The Intifada had just broken out and a huge wave of terror had suddenly descended upon Israel. The media in Europe was twisting the story to brand Israel as a bad guy! Jews in the UK were in shock and felt under attack. A few idealists decided enough was enough.

The t-shirt is not about fake mothers smuggling explosives. It is not about an 8 year old with a machine gun. It is about killing an innocent mother and her unborn child. Normal people will be disgusted by this.

FTA:A Paratroopers Brigade soldier who also participated in the war called the claims "nonsense". Speaking on condition of anonymity, he said, "It is true that in war morality can be interpreted in many different ways, and there are always a few idiots who act inappropriately, but most of the soldiers represented Israel honorably and with a high degree of morality.

So what he was really saying is that some of Israel's soldiers did not conduct themselves honorably and with a high degree of morality.

So what the article contends is that the allegations of wrongdoing are false because it's hearsay and to support the argument, hearsay is provided... I see.

Well, I came back to correct myself, it was Gulf I, not Iraq I where the sniper shirt appeared; my apologies to Marine Snipers, semper fi.

I first saw the "kill 'em all' shirt on 3rd ACR men who were cycling back from S Viet Nam into Ft Bliss Tx, when I was stationed there. They get the credit.I was a soldier and I knew better than to wear one, I still understand why men do things like that.

We were not "at war" in Viet Nam, Korea or even Kosevo. I stand by my use of the term "war zone", as defined by ME as anywhere you are liable to get shot by someone that doesn't like you and where you can shoot back. I believe most of Isreal's border qualifies.

Please stop whining, men like this have to guard the gates. You don't like them, don't invite them to your next poetry reading or poli-sci lecture. They'll understand.
