if only there was a document that would tell our congress what issues are to be important to the government and give them boundries...

You mean college football playoff systems aren't in the Enumeration of Powers?

You know Congress will just declare it falls under their great catch all of "Interstate Commerce". Everything falls under that.

If the NCAA would stop acting like stupid children and clean up its own problems, they wouldn't need to bother Congress with this retarded BS.

Nothing could make the system worse than it is...except Congress.

I'm reading this in my Antitrust Law class, so I'm getting a kick...

/Who said reading Fark in class can't be educational?

interstate commerce is the most abused ruling in the history of the country. It turned what should have been a limited government of set powers into a giant who can do anything under the catchall of 'commerce'.

Just designate the SEC title game as the Nat'l Championship game. Then go ahead and have your regular bowls as scheduled. Problem solved.

Seriously can we have an uprising now?

I read that as BSG rankings controversy.

Writing all of my congressmen and senators right now. Letting them know that if I see them invovled in this that is minus one vote from this guy.

//looking at you Mr. Spector

Just have Ohio State as number one.

Sgt. Pepper: That would fall under this guy's jurisdiction:

Candidate Wil Wheaton

Would vote for it.

I am so relieved to see Congress taking on the issues that affect my everyday life. Every morning, I wake up saying "fark Florida, the Utes are the real champions." Because, my rent will pay itself, my 401-k is kicking ass, and I have no worries about the stability of my job at all. War? What war? Social Security? fark it, we don't need it. What we need is the true champion of COLLEGE football. That is what will make America great again. Crime will drop to zero, unwed mothers become wed, California will drop into the Pacific, and we can finally get a Costco around here.

Exactly Subby.

It's not like there are millions of dollars at stake for state educational systems as a byproduct of qualifying for a BCS bowl or something.

Stupid congress wasting their time.

Suck it, BCS

I think it's interesting that people are under the impression that Congress cannot multitask.

What's interesting is how far Congress will rape the term "interstate commerce" in order to exercise their powers in places they do not belong.

Worse than the BCS? I'm not sure...

Arkham: interstate commerce is the most abused ruling in the history of the country. It turned what should have been a limited government of set powers into a giant who can do anything under the catchall of 'commerce'.

1) It's not a "ruling," it's a clause in the Constitution.
2) I'd argue it's tied with "common defense" with "general welfare" not far behind.

Common Defense/General Welfare, as you so put it, occurs in the preamble, not in the Enumeration of Powers. It is a farce that people pretend "promoting the general welfare" is a power of the government. Interstate Commerce is an Enumerated Power however, and hence actually a semi valid defense when Congress pulls it out, even though it is absurdly used.

The best and worst clause of the Constitution in regards to Congress.

I think it's interesting that those people who believe Congress can simultaneously handle a thousand issues believe this is one of the top thousand issues they should be handling.

this effectively portrays the low standards set by both.

Really? I think it's interesting that people pretend there aren't millions being channelled towards a few select schools under the BCS system and that congress, especially at a time when states are tightening their belts and raising tuition costs, shouldn't do anything about it.

Congressional Houses are divided into committees. This allows each house to attack many different types of problems at the same time. To many American, the BCS is a festering problem. Certainly, it is not a pressing problem as the economy, global warming, or CAFE standards, but it is still a problem which Congress can help address.

The NCAA does not recognize the BCS champion.

But why the fark should it?

Pretty sure we didn't break from the British Empire because they had a crappy ranking system in place.

Hey, let's keep common sense and logic out of this. Ohio State deserves a chance to be ranked #1 in 2009 just to have the opportunity to be embarrassed by any number of SEC teams.
