Sounds like something they would do in Texas - loud, excessive and completely unnecessary.

One of the most repressive regimes in the world allows private citizens to have dynamite???!!!

Also, sucks to be the diver, but my favorite diver story is the one who was swimming along, got scooped up by one of those firefighting airplanes, taken a few thousand feet up and dumped onto a raging forest-fire. That guy had seriously bad karma or something.

They tried that on Mythbusters and couldn't get it to work.

Makes us in USA look like a punch of pussies. Only the criminals and psychopaths get to play with high explosives here.

Oh another note, do you have a better idea on how to solve overpopulation?

Yes, but it involves a drill, the hedge clippers and some ordinary household bleach.

jabelar 2009-03-25 07:41:13 PM
I've seen a lot of dynamite fishing in Mazatlan. They just throw it in then wade out and scoop out the fish. The fish of course don't necessarily float to the top, but rather are kind of suspended where they were killed. Pretty wasteful, but kinda neat in an adolescent awe sort of way.

The problem with humans vs. underwater explosions is that the human is somewhat compressible and the water is not.

They saw bubbles, and thought it was a big fish?

These people are clearly idiots on many levels.

But, I'm certainly wondering one other thing... Divers don't just BE out in the middle of f'n nowhere. Where was his support boat?
How was this guy on his own?

This whole story is fishy.
//No pun intended
//Actually... Yes it was

I suspect you're trolling, but just in case. In at least one instance, I remember Snopes being incorrect: candy-flavored meth. They said it doesn't exist. My local police department say it does. This would be one of those rare times I side with the local police.

Oh noes! Mr and Mrs Snope are Democrats! I guess that makes all the books, encyclopedias, people interviewed and research Democratic too? Who cares if it's two people or if "they have no formal background or experience in investigative research" if they find the actual information and put it in one spot. Anybody that's written a report in school has a background in investigative research.

It saves me 20 minutes of reading garbage through Google.
