Hell, I agree with that and I'm solidly with the demographic for Twitter. Farking useless site. I couldn't care less to know about all the little updates in your day.

I like my family and talk to most of them each week on the phone. Once each for up to an hour. If someone one takes off on a trip, I might get an e-mail with an itinerary. I really don't need more contact than that.

I do not understand how this site got so popular. I really don't. And I'm one of those people who has a LiveJournal, MySpace, Facebook, and spends pretty much the whole day online.

And that said, how much is there to teach? "Type some stuff in the box. Hit the button next to it. People will read it."

You guys are totally doing it wrong. First of all, I don't know what you're expecting out of this. It's just good fun. It's not serious business. Second of all, you do more than follow people you know. You follow CNN, and the Bad Astronomer, and John Cleese, and Christopher Walken, and Darth Vader, and maybe a cat or two. I mean... if you want.

Point is, just like any other "social networking site," you make it into what you want. It's not just people saying, "I'm going downstairs now. OK now I'm back."

I honestly didn't know that Twitter was a website. I was under the impression it was... I don't know, exactly, but something on par with text messaging. Make fun of that if you like, but I don't at all mind being out of the loop on this one.

Meh. If I want someone to know what I'm doing I'll call.

How do these people make money anyway? There ain't no such thing as a free lunch, or a free service. I don't see any banner ads there. They must be stealing your bandwidth to send spam while you're on their page.

Why I don't do twitter:

Currently doing: "Your Mother"

Why? Because I'm too lazy to constantly twitter, and really, who cares? I haven't updated my myspace page in over a year, and in those 12 months I've held 4 different jobs, driven two different cars and banged your mother 900 times.

I've heard this from a friend, he uses it as a powerful business tool, but then again I live and work out in the country where you're lucky if you get a response in a week...

Robert Whelan, deputy director of Civitas which published a damning critique on the curriculum two years ago, said: 'This is yet another step on the journey to drain all academic content from the school curriculum and to replace discrete bodies of knowledge, which have been organised under subject headings for hundreds of years, with a lot of social engineering and flabby attempts at feel-good philosophy.

That says it for me.

You're a twat. Twitter is a website that offers a service. For free. Without ads. Twitter is also headed for failure.

Somacandra: Never used Twitter. Sorta heard of it. Do people really tell each other about pooping as it happens? Why?

Because everyone is a wonderful, amazing, outstanding person, the most perfect, stellar unique being on the planet; and society deserves nothing better than to know your every movement, breath and thought as you go about your daily routine.

And, in case you think I'm kidding, that is the Bravo Sierra that's been fed to our precious snowflakes every day for the last 18 years of their dull lives. Which is why they feel the need to update each other 24/7 on Twitter, BlackBerry, cell phone, and other nonsense. And oh my god are we paying for all this self-esteem crap in spades. Via...Twitter.

They have a website, but I'd say it's more of a service. It routes your message to those following you via text, IM, website, etc. I use it for sports updates and bands mostly and a couple friends. It's entertaining enough for me, and if I think someone or some organization is annoying, I don't follow 'em anymore.

Some people find it annoying and pointless, but I'm actually enjoying reading what a friend of mine is doing while living in Taiwan and vacationing in New Zealand.
