HOW DARE anyone ask such a question!

Then we're still in a really farked up, shiatty mess....

So nothing will have changed.

Rev.K [TotalFark] 2009-03-25 11:21:03 AM
Yeah. Bush was the iceberg that doomed the economy to the bottom of the Atlantic, but the new guy is somehow going to make it worse.

Rev.K: Yeah. Bush was the iceberg that doomed the economy to the bottom of the Atlantic, but the new guy is somehow going to make it worse.

B-b-but Obama's the captain of the iceberg, right?????

There are lots of icebergs out there. Just because you steered away from one doesn't mean you won't hit another one. But, the important thing to ask is whether or not we'll get to see Kate Winslett's hooters along the way.

What if Republican attempts at obstructionism makes things worse?

I'd rather have someone try to fix things and fail than have people just deliberately trying to get in the way of every attempt to fix things.

I prefer the "what if Bush didn't steal the election from Gore"

Would we have flying cars by now?

I think so.

I suppose from a foreign perspective, this is actually a novel and insightful question.

Here's my question: When will people start asking "What then?"

1. OMG BANKS ARE GOING TO FAIL! What then?

2. OMG DOMESTIC AUTO MANUFACTURERS FAILING! So what then?

3. OMG PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR HOUSES! What then?

Here's the answers to those questions, as I see it.

1. New, smarter banks will take their place because nature abhors a void.

2. Either new domestic auto manufacturers will take their place or we will keep importing all our cars until that becomes too expensive then new domestic auto manufacturers will open.

3. People will live somewhere. Either the owners of the building who they rent from make money or the banks do.

Truth of the matter is it's better to let things fail and fix the problems than to prop up failing business models and call it a day.

/off to read TFA.

Not to worry. As long as there are printing presses we can't run out of money.

People are acting as if the US has terminal cancer and Obama gave it AIDS or something.

Obama inheritted a shiatstorm and he's trying to fix it. People need to stop having a quick fix mentality and understand that it's easier to destroy something than it is to build it.

Are these the same people who say that FDR prolonged the Great Depression, and that we would have recovered in a fraction of hte time if we only did things their way?

What if my mom was secretly my dad and my dad was secretly my mom?!

If things get worse then we'll try something different.

If things get better then we'll continue on the same path.

This is not that hard of a concept.

fernt 2009-03-25 12:42:07 PM
He's still campaigning.

I wonder when he's going to stop using how many days in office he's had as an excuse?

Ending NAFTA and levying a crippling tax on exporting jobs might help. Putting illegals to work on highway maintenance isn't going to move us in the right direction, and half of that money will be sent to Mexico anyway.

The path he's on can't help but make it worse.

I can see that no one read TFA. This wasn't an attack on Obama or anyone else for that matter, it was a different perspective on the global crisis and was quite interesting.

Woot. Trade wars! Just what everyone needs. Let's watch the price of goods soar as money is devalued.

alright. how about we have another election, and decide once again who should try to fix the economy?
