I liked Arular. Kala is OK, but not as good. I saw MIA on Halloween 2007 and it was an excellent show. More like a party with a live band than a show.

MIA will probably fade out in a few years, but at least she got paid. If it wasn't for Paper Planes she'd be cranking out music in semi-obscurity for 2 or 3 more albums. She'll probably just go back to art.

In my circle of friends, it's blasphemy to talk down on MIA, but I do it anyways. Her rhymes are mediocre at best and on top of that she loops almost every line so she only has to come up with half the shiatty lyrics....

I don't think anyone likes her because of he MC'ing skills. Her album is good, though, especially if you're in the car with girls and you have to find something to listen to that everyone can appreciate.

Not this. I heard the album in full before that song blew up and it wasn't the best. Probably 3rd best, though you are technically correct until they release another single.

Amy Winehouse is competent, but retro and uninspired.

M.I.A. has an original sound and some banging beats. Though Paper Planes leans too heavily on that Clash sample, but I guess that's why it was a hit - people like hearing things they're familiar with.

Well I'd consider this an upgrade, though I was disappointed as to the reason why Amy can't make it. I'd hoped it would be a bit more exotic.

The lineup's still not not worth me trekking out to Cali for however.
