That is just a crime of a video. Badly shot, horrible lighting, and who the hell made the decision to surround the band with people who were ignoring the music?

As for the fist part of your comment, it was 1993. As for the second part, I think you kind of missed the point of the video. Not every video has to be like ACDC's Thunderstruck.

I really don't see why not.

Wow, my respect for Der Hoffster just doubled.

Love that song, too.

New Order videos have always been rather lame and odd. Intentionally so.

I dunno - I thought true Faith was pretty well done for it's time.

Riddle me this...how can you play guitar for as long as Bernard Sumner and STILL not be able to play it? He fumbles over the strings TONS when you see them live.

/great band tho'
//sum of their parts
///Hooky!!

The fact that the Hoff is in it makes it lame and odd. Case in point...

Yeah, but it does fall under the "odd" category. The videos have always been perfect for what they were. They reflected the band extremely well. Even the "Regret" video, as awful as it appears to be, fits perfectly. Once you understand the meaning of the song, the awkwardness of the video is completely explained.

They never were a typical pop band and they knew it. There's no sense in giving them a billion dollar budget for a music video. They aren't some fresh-faced factory assembled (pun intended) boy band.

So the Hoff on a beach with a video that looks like a high school band's desperate attempt to make it on MTV... yeah, it's a laugh. That's what it was supposed to be. Come on, look at Hooky. He acts like he's playing for the Who or something in that video.

I laughed my arse off when I saw this vid. You could totally tell they were taking the piss out of the venue...it was for ToTP after all! :)

I'm sure most of the band lavished in the ridiculousness of it, but Bernard was probably all for it.

It was their comeback, and theif biggest US single... they were finally off of Factory (RIP), so the record company milked it for all they could. Baywatch was probably the most popular thing going at that point. Ugh. There are a few shamful parts of New Order's past, and this is one of them.

Not as shameful as "World In Motion"...

I love that song. Why is it though that Peter Hook looks like he is playing with Iron Maiden?

Uhhh...not the official video, folks...a lame spot on Britain's "Top of the Pops". Gotta remember Baywatch was HUGE in in the UK and NO's new label was pushing Republic.

If you want to see what NO thought of TOTP, youtube their lip-synched performance of "Blue Monday". Barney just holds his mouth open when he's supposed to be mouthing the lyrics.

I love how this thread thinks that this was the real video instead of a band appearance/cross promotion.

LOVE the boobs on the chick with the phone. That's all.
