Some broke, 20-something, living in his mom's basement winning "Man of the Year?"

Yeah, they'll let that happen.

FredaDeStilleto [TotalFark] 2009-03-23 04:11:52 PM
That million vote lead is impressive. I didn't think that both people on 4chan would vote so often.

When they're not masturbating to Hentai tentacle porn, they can be an effective and often destructive force on the internet.

After Ataturk failed to win "person of the century" we know how much Time respects ballot stuffing voting.

The question is moot apparently.

It's 4chan. They just leave vote scripts running for 'the lulz'. Whats hilarious is that for a short while there, Morgan Tsvangirai was leading. Who the fark would vote for that guy?

After 2006 what's the point of having a Person of the Year if everyone has all ready won? I suppose people who were born in 2007 and 2008 are good contenders.

That would leave Trig Palin as a contender, and I'm just not Down with that.

I used to get Time, and when that stupid web 2.0 issue with a reflective surface and the word "You" as person of the year came...I canceled it. The mag was only used in the bathroom, anyway. And I fixed that when I got that usb toilet at Sharper Image.

SilentStrider [TotalFark] 2009-03-23 06:32:42 PM
Ok, si nce 4chan is obviously stacking the vote their way, are we going to stack it our way?

It would either have to be Drew Curtis, or Wil Wheaton. So... Which?

Broktun: What is 4chan?

It's the most wonderful place on the internets.

Invite your office mates/SO over and go browse the best the world has to offer.

Pay special attention to /b/

I just don't think I have it in me to try and outvote Anon. It's like Judiciary Pag said about the Krikketers, "I mean, these guys are just obsessed".

Moot? Who the fark is Moot?

Rain is a Korean singer.

Complete and utter win.

netweavr 2009-03-23 06:44:45 PM
For those asking.

4chan, more specifically /b/ is an unmoderated, anonymous forum.

Think about that combination for a bit.

The Icelander 2009-03-23 06:44:46 PM
GungFu: Moot? Who the fark is Moot?

Reading comprehension fail.

If the person in the lead is the founder of 4chan, and the person with the most votes in TFA is moot, then moot must therefore be the founder of 4chan.

This is month 3 of 12. How the hell are we supposed to know who the most influential person will be?

Korb [TotalFark] 2009-03-23 06:46:43 PM
Didn't Time learn their lesson when in 1999 they let the Internet write-in vote on Man of the Century and Jesus won after fighting off stiff competition in the form of Hank, The Angry Drunken Dwarf?

/i voted for Hitler

The script kiddies aren't going to stop. The vote will just get more skewed.

Do I have to go see what 4chan is? No, no, I won't. And I won't go look at this Twitter shiat either.

You guys have steered me wrong before (Tubgirl). Your taste in movies is questionable too.

The only question is:

Will Time figure it out before or after Moot passes 6 billion votes?

Oh no, this is nothing like that.

...

ok it's like that.
but there's a whole lot more of it

They'll filter out repeated IPs eventually. The kiddies will adapt. You can't fight stupid and persistent.

If Time is smart they'll filter only the end tally and not until the end.

wydok 2009-03-23 06:52:27 PM
Really, though, is it in the best interest of Time to have the Person of the Year be the founder of a website flooded by kiddy porn at least once every 3 days?
